Anyone know if there is a waiting period (for paint cure) before waxing?

i ordered a GT in California and will be driving it home to AZ . Just did the same route yesterday and the bugs were pretty bad. I’d like to get a quick (spray) coat of wax on before heading back to make the cleanup a little easier.

30 days if it is a rub on rub off wax. For a spray like mentioned above you would be fine as your car likely sat at Flat Rock (the plant) for a few days, was then shipped by rail and then by car to your local dealer. You'll be ok.

Factory paint is different to repair/body-shop paint, so there is no waiting period with a new car. A spray wax or sealant will be totally fine.

Just keep in mind that even brand-new cars need to be prepped before applying a wax/sealant/coating, especially for vehicles delivered via rail. Ideally, wash, treat with iron remover, clay, polish, then apply your sealant.

Agreed, no waiting time anymore. Factory paints are cured and hardened, un like the old lacquers and even enamels.

Use this (what Ferrari uses).... it's amazing. Your trips to the car wash will be cut down to 1/10th. You can do your entire car in under 20 min (no buffing). It smells amazing and you will LOVE the result.

Hey Garcia172, I've always been hesitant to use these waterless products because in my mind you would be rubbing road dirt around on the paint possibly scoring it and ruining the finish. What's your take on this? Thank You. Trella

No waiting, I use Pinnacle Carbelu Wax and Pinnacle Mist and it is good for a good 3 to 6 months.

That's what I initially thought. Then one day my car detailer (who works for Ferrari) was doing my 488GTB and this is what he was using. The stuff is amazing. There is something in it that coats the dirt particles in a way they don't scratch the paint... at all. zero. And it puts a light coat of wax on the car at the same time. You can feel it. Just spray on, wipe off. Dirt goes to the rag (I use costco white terry cloth rags...). Will not scratch the paint even on a filthy car. I use it also on the headlights/tail lights, and even the black trim (splitter/diffuser/side skirts). No white residue either. Use it on the wheels (rims) too. I ran out and tried a couple of other brands that claim to do the same thing but they don't. This stuff is like magic. I rarely go to car washes any more because of this. You will love it

Has anyone had any experiences to share with the "German Graphine" spray coatings being advertised more and more lately? I'm curious but would like to know if the stuff really works or is yet another scam.

It's all about proper technique application. Use a folded wet towel and wipe in one direction. Then fold to a clean side and wipe again. Keep repeating until done. Always spray the surface and the towel. NEVER RUB IN A CIRCULAR PATERN. IF the car is excessively dirty, then it should be properly washed or at least power sprayed first.

And for the record, I can think of at least 5 rinseless products I'd use before that crap. 😉

Try this instead.

Nope... Old school waxing info. This stuff doesn't work like that. I've done it on fully dirty new S650 so many times I can't count anymore. zero swirl marks, zero scratching. I wouldn't have belived it unless I saw it for myself. This on a new 488GTB (for years). Not a single scratch. Nobody uses water to wash these cars like that anymore on super high end cars (I guess some do.. but the Ferrari dealer doesn't).

Spray on... wipe in, then off. Yeah I use a little of a circular path (from habit).. .and when the rag gets dirty I refold it (but it has to get really dirty before a refold).

I have zero affiliation. The stuff works and you use in on a dirty car (that's why it says wash & wax). I wouldn't have believed it unless I saw it on my Ferrari (like 30x). And now the S650.

The stuff works. Don't ask me how... past my pay grade. But you will love it. And it won't scratch anything no matter how dirty the car is. Like i said... I wouldn't have believed it myself. No real buffing, no white residue. Zero swirl marks. Use it on the entire car except the glass and tires. Straight up.

Congratulations on washing your car like a caveman and putting mirco scratches in the clear coat. 🤦 My guess is you would be very surprised to see you car under some detailing lights.

Huh? You mean like Ferrari does on this car? Guess it's not expensive enough Lol

This what the Ferrari dealer in Newport Beach uses on their new Ferraris (new in the show room... cars retailing for well well over 1M). 8 Years... not a single scratch under any light. Same for the S650.

Not trying to be an ass, but you don't know what you're talking about. You might want to try it before you comment.

Its cheap auto zone crap. Spray wax in general is a gimmick. Just because some Ferrari "dealer" in Florida uses doesn't mean its good. Its means they dont know any better. Any professional detailer would question this product and your application process. A proper sealant or topper is light years ahead. But its your car. You do you. Just dont feed people bad information because you dont know any better.
