Selling my almost new 2025 and boy got to tell you folks the market is in the tank like bottom of the Ocean.
Albeit, we are currently Winter - but let me tell you - $12 to $15K losses on your car over what you paid these wagons DO NOT HOLD THEIR VALUE, as a matter of fact they are void of value ...

I am shocked at the value loss really ...

Just wait until the DH Boss SC hits showrooms and people unload their DHs.

All cars loose value, for folks to think even for a second to buy a new car and sell it the next model year has always been a huge mistake financially and extreme likely to continue into the future. 20% - 25% loss is expected.

My '24 700A in blue ember has costed me nothing since the purchase, except annual registration and gas.

Unfortunately, it's the worst possible time for anyone to sell any vehicle.

- Winter
- Model Year transition
- Specific to the OP, 1st year of ownership
- It's a sports car
- Tariff policies were a contributing factor to previous buyer sentiment and current inventory. There was a surge of vehicle purchases as little as one year ago, new and used. People on the fence to buy bought, not knowing what the future held. They've now got their cars and trucks and are not looking for another

Dealer lots in my area are full. Some are having difficulty finding places to park them at times.

The amounts of monies discussed, especially on a one-year old car, do not surprise me. IDK what a "proper" amount is, but I'd expect to take the biggest hit that first year or two.

There is the old saying “you lose 10k as soon as you sign papers and drive it off the lot”

that’s the initial hit for buying a brand new vehicle, not just a DH, I would even venture to say, you can keep it and drive it for 2-3 more years and the value will be close to what you’re seeing now still, the dealer will want you to eat all the first 3 years depreciation up front because who in their right mind would buy a used 2025 when they can buy a new one.

First of all, sorry for your loss.

Second, I wonder why you are selling so soon.

Third, as others noted, it's just a bad time to sell a car, especially a "sports car" and especially a Mustang, which unfortunately, do not generally hold their value very well.

Fourth, I've BTDT myself, and you could hold on to that car for another year and not lose much if any money. The first year is tough, and as noted in another thread, hard to get accurate pricing. Plus, few people will pay near MSRP for a used car when they can get a new one for not much more, plus usually better financing.

Fifth, you don't mention if your $12-15K loss is inclusive of all of the fees, taxes, etc. that you paid when you bought it. And did you buy a stripper or a loaded car? In other words, if you are comparing your OTD price on a loaded car to what you can sell it for today, then a $12K loss is nothing, seriously.

And it depends where you are in NC. Different regions have different pricing, and you may do better in another city.

Best of luck to you.

Does anybody expect a new DH to not lose value?

DH Premium, HP $78K was the sticker not what I paid - need to clear the debt selling and buying a house it's not imperative but it will help a lot. I'm well aware for first year loss but honestly was surprised at the amount
