This is the 2020 350R. But I am not so sure I want to replace the seats or the wheel in it.

After much contemplating what route to go with the setup of my car interior, I settled on the following for the track.

1. Watson Racing 4 Point Cage
2. Cobra Nogaro Circuit Seats with PCI slider mounts
3. Schroth Quick Fit Pro harness with sub straps (6 point)
4. NecksGen Rev2 Carbon HNR
5. Element fire extinguisher

I finally completed the install this evening. None of the items were that difficult to install by myself, but it certainly would have been more work getting the cage installed if I didn’t have a lift. I’m very happy with the way everything turned out and am excited to head to Barber at the end of the month.

Just about doing the same seat and harness setup. How did you managed the OE seat belt anchor, as it is fixed with the factory seat?

The seat mount from Pro Car Innovations has a hole for mounting restraints. Initially, I took the seat belt buckle off the OEM seats and mounted them to the PCI bases with the Cobra seats. Later, I decided I would rather have the OEM buckles stay on the factory seats so I could swap them in the car at any time and plug everything right in, so I ordered two of the Ford OEM buckles. The part numbers for the buckles are PR3Z-6361203-NA for the driver's side and PR3Z-6361202-NA for the passenger's side. I bought two of the driver's side buckles because they are half the cost of the passenger's side. The passenger's side has extra wiring, which I'm assuming is the reason they are more expensive, but since none of the wiring is hooked up with the new seats, there was no need to spend the extra.

The factory seats have a threaded hole where the buckles mount, while the PCI bases have a non-threaded hole. Also the buckles when ordered from Ford don't come with the bolt, so I purchased some class 10.9 bolts and nuts (same class as OEM bolts) to attach them to the PCI bases and used blue threadlocker as well.

I figure in my car’s current state, one of two things would happen with the airbags.

1. They don’t work at all. I find this unlikely, but this would actually be fine with the harness, helmet and hnr.
2. The airbags deploy, including the front airbag at full force thinking I’m not wearing a seatbelt, vs a reduced force as would normally occurs with a seatbelt. With my seat position, 6 point harness and hnr, I don’t expect my body would contact much if any of the front airbag. The rest of the airbags I don’t see as there being any issues with deploying while wearing a helmet.
I crashed my Chevrolet product at Road Atlanta with a five point harness and the airbag went off, flinging my arm against the door causing a broken watch and nerve damage. I got the watch fixed, and it took many years for the nerve damage to heal (if it is actually healed, I may just be used to it now). So, if you are going to wear the harness 100% of the time (on the street too) then you may be better off just yanking the fuse for the bomb waiting to explode in your face. Maybe not. I'll not accept liability for your decision. ;)

I like the idea of mounting the belts to the factory locations rather than the harness or roll bar (neither of which I want to install, BTDT). But I can't seem to find a 5 or 6-pt kit, just the 4-pt. Can you tell me (us) where you bought it, please?

I think removing the factory seats disables the airbags in the S650. I know when I removed the factory seat wiring, the airbag light illuminated, and it has stayed on since. I had an incident at Roebling Road in August where I hit the pit lane wall off turn 9, and no airbags deployed.

The Schroth Quick Fit Pro, which is a four point harness with anti-submarine technology, can have the sub straps added to make it a six point. This is what I am running. The part number is SR49002K for the black. https://www.schrothracing.com/item/sub-straps

Sweet, thanks! Sorry about your incident, I've spent many, many enjoyable hours at Roebling and I've gone off at 5 I think, and seen others go off at the carousel and in 3, but never have I seen or heard of anyone going off at 9. Ouch.

BTW, you probably hit hard enough to set off the sensors, so down the road when you put the seat back in and try to sell the car, I suspect that the airbag light will still be on (unless the bulb has burned out by then, LOL) and you'll need to have them all replaced and the computer reset.

From what I've heard, turn 9 at Roebling is actually the most common crash location on the track. So much so they repaint the wall each month. Usually it is from someone dropping a wheel and then trying to pull it back on the track and running straight into the wall. Mine was a little different. I had a leak in my normal 200tw track tires on the final day, so I swapped over to my tires I use in the rain. I pushed too hard with those tires around 9, felt it understeering, but thought I could keep it on the track. I didn't unwind the steering wheel enough as I eased off the throttle, and ended up with the back end coming loose and sliding into the pit lane entrance wall.

I had a body shop repair the car, but they did nothing with resetting the sensors. (Edit: You are correct. I went back and looked at my final invoice and they replaced the airbag sensors.) I swapped in my OEM seats a couple weeks ago before taking the car into the dealer for the BCM recall, and as soon as I plugged in the seats, the airbag light went away. I had no codes or errors with the OEM seats in the car.

Well, I was just going from personal observations, not from anything else. Plus, it's been well over 20 years since I've been at Roebling, and cars are a lot faster now, and street tires are much more capable.

20 years, wow. Can I be that old?
