Go to a dealer and sit in a car with the Recaros. You'll definitely want them.
Well maybe, but you really need to spend a couple of hours in them. I can't think of any cars seats I've owned that were painful though.

I'm not sure which Recaros you've owned, but I've owned many (talking about OEM seats, not aftermarket track seats)... and everyone including myself think they are extremely comfortable. I especially loved the Recaros in my EvoX (most comfortable car seat I've ever sat in).
Everyone? 🤣

I went to the dealer and drove a car that had them. It was the most uncomfortable test drive I've ever been on in my life. My back hurt after 5 minutes and I couldn't wait to get out of that thing. Even the sales guy thought they were pretty bad.

Sorry to hear that. Like I said I've had many and I've never experienced one that wasn't very very comfortable and very supportive. Maybe it's my physical size versus your size I don't know but I'd be more than happy to take the recarlos off the gentleman that doesn't like them!

Recaros are meant for the track or regular back road racing.

If you aren't doing those things, then you're just paying 2k so you can brag that you have recaros with a sweaty ass and a sore back.
Hey! I wear Depends! there ain't no sweat on my seat! 😆

My last car - a '14 GT Brembo car - was bought of the lot. It was red, manual, 401, Brembo package. I actually liked the fact is was Brembo only - that was a cool option to not have to go full PP to get those brakes and wheels/tires.
I always said if I had ordered it, I would have added these two things: Recaro seats and 3:55 gears.

My current car was bought off the lot, but it had basically everything, so no need to order.

Here's what I think of the Recaro seats:

-I find them very comfortable - nearly as comfy as regular premium seats.
-I like the wrap-around feeling - and I'm 6'-1" and 'bout 250 lb. So even for my lard-ass they feel good. If I weighed 230, they'd be even better.
-They look awesome.
-They really hold you in when cornering or on clover on-ramps, etc.
-They've gotta be lighter than standard premium seats with all the gizmos and motors gone.

The only thing that bugs me is that it's hard to get into the car without feeling like you're going to ruin the covers on the seat bolsters. The huge thigh and side bolsters make the opening into the car very small. I don't mind contorting myself into the opening, but I hate feeling like I'm wearing the seats - but I'm pretty good at it. One key is to have the tilt wheel way up. I also like to have the wheel pointed so that the flat bottom is pointing to 8 oclock position - makes the hole bigger. Some people move the seat back and forth each time they get in and out.

But heck, I feel like Richard Petty every time I get in and out my car.

So I definitely like them and do not regret getting them. It really makes it feel like a race-car.

And I don't feel bad about not having heating/cooling, power or memory. The mirror cap turn signals would have been nice, but.. oh well.

And it's a bitch to get in the back seat - they don't fold forward very far because the thigh and side bolsters stop it.

One of the two reasons I own a Mustang are painful seats in the car I traded on it. You are fortunate to have not experienced painful seats. They will make one change cars.

Ok, I just remembered that I drove a 2012 Boss 302 with Recaros. Those seats didn't bother me at all. But I cant stand the Recaros in the S550 and S650. 🤷‍♂️

I wonder what the difference is? My cousin has a '14 GT with cloth Recaros - they seemed pretty similar. Did they ever come with manual lumbar? I'll have to ask him.

One thing I know is that my back is not the same as it was in 2012. :)

I should clarify that I drove the boss 302 last year. 😉

I drove a 2024 GT PP with Recaros this March. That last one was the test drive I mentioned above as the most uncomfortable test drive I ever went on.
