Hi everyone,

Are there any people here with Recaro seats and the 401A package? If so, you are in the same boat as me and you don't have turn signals in your side mirrors for some weird reason. Who would ever thought that a seat option will delete the turn signal option.

Is there anybody who is super handy who can check if the harness for the turn signals is there?

I want to order the side mirrors with the turn signals, but I'm afraid that I don't have that harness.

I called different dealerships and all of them didn't even know what a 401A package was, let alone to understand what I was asking for.

One dealership understood was I was saying and they said they have to remove a door panel to check but they will charge me 300 Dollars for the diagnosis.

LOL first off if employees don't know what the 401A package is, they are probably new or just don't really care. Its been the top package for the GT for over a decade. Silly that multiple places you talked to didn't know what it was.

As for the Recaro seats with the turn signals on the mirrors, it can't be done from the factory. You could explore doing it aftermarket but it realistically will be difficult to do since the wiring will have been removed. Its going to get expensive doing it aftermarket too.

Here is why: The regular 401A package comes with the comfy power operated heated/cooled seats that have the memory seat functions as well as the mirror blind spot detection and heated mirrors and integrated turn signals... the moment you option the Recaro seats which are manual only, Ford from the factory production line has to remove the wiring for the memory seats and power controls, therefore also stripping the wiring for the mirrors as well; losing out on your mirror turn signals, ect..

You are not crazy for thinking a seat option would impact stuff on the mirrors, it is a bit whacky but it is only because of how the 401A package is configured internally with the wiring.

Basically that leaves buyers wanting Recaro seats to probably skip the 401A package; OR buyers wanting the 401A package to skip the Recaros. Getting both just means you are paying more and getting less functionality. To each their own I guess.

Hopefully this helps OP.

Thanks. This means I'm screwed, since I need turn signals on the side for passing inspection. Pff.. now I have to find a way to get turn signals on the side of the car.

Sure thing. Sorry to hear. You must be overseas if it is a regulation thing.

To be clear though, you can still order factory mirrors with the turn signals integrated into them as they will fit your car without issue, but you will need to have some sort of custom wiring internally to match them up with the blinkers.
I would think a good body shop could help you with accomplishing this.

Well thanks for clarifying this up.
I guess there is no other way then just order the mirrors and find a bodyshop to wire this with my turn signals.

Thank you @Crew4991 . Makes sense.

Just a joke:
Recaro seats delete turn signal on any car.
Because they are snug in shoulder area and doesn't let one to extend arm out of the window... :like:

I have recaros, 401A package, and no turn signals in the mirrors. However, I do have the blind spot indicators in the mirror which means they are wired for more than just adjustment controls.

All that said, only a wiring diagram can tell you if the harness can be multi purposes or not. Your Ford dealership absolutely has access to that and can answer that question.

You just gave me back some hope.
I really need to know if the turn signal harness is in the car.

Do you have the heated steering wheel or is this option also deleted due to Recaro?

I have to buy the mirrors anyways.
If there is no harness I have to wire the lights from the tail lights.

Silly question. Are you importing the car to your country and it is isn't specifically sold there? If so I understand what you are trying to do.

If the car is sold in your country, I would think that the manufacturer would have to have the vehicle compliant with the local requirements or the dealer would have to do some sort of specific modifications in order to actually release the vehicle for sale to that location.

Yep. I bought an American Mustang and going to import it to Europe.

Ford has been known in the past to include the wiring harness in the past even if the option was not available on that spec.

for example my Bronco did not come with fog lights because I chose the HD Modular Bumper option which deletes them. However the harness is still there tucked away. Many people have bought fogs and the associated OEM switch for it and got it working.

sometimes it requires some configuration changes using FORSCAN, and sometimes it’s just plug and play

I really hope so. I also hope there is someone on this forum with Recaro seats and the 401A package who already checked inside the doorpanel if there harness is there. Would help me big time.

Mine has the Recaro seats with heating steering wheel and blind spot indicator. I didn’t even think about the integrated turn signals. I’ll be following this thread as I might be stationed in Germany in a couple years. Will you let me know if you get this figured out?

So we are on the same boat.
I'll let you know when I got this figured out.
I sent some e-mails to my dealership to see if they can look it up.

I hope the harness is there so I can order a new set of side mirrors. I don't want to drill holes or place aftermarket turn signals on a car like this.
