..... well if you bought a Bronco then you should know all about failure - crap engine and worse structural integrity. Sold my 2014 Mustang to a good friend in 2024. Other than oil changes, brake linings and tires I didn't have to spend a penny on it - nor has he for the last two years. I expect the same from my 2024 GT convertible.

Seriously. Mustang card revoked. Go back to Russia.
Seriously, I know on sites like this, we're always debating generations, designs, powertrains, etc. I understand the varying preferences people have, but I was under the impression that the '65-70 mustang was basically universally loved. Those are the cars that gave us the mustang, and defined everything about it, it's styling cues, it's V8 engine, it's positioning in the marketplace, etc.

Assuming he's being serious and not trolling, his take blows my mind lol.

When Mustangs first came out in 1964, they weren't exactly lush with luxury, horsepower, and exquisite fine materials, yet people went nuts over them, and, at the time, they weren't inexpensive cars, nor were they expensive....just like right now.

What it amounts to is that a bunch of people think almost 500 hp standard, with leather and plastic interiors (same as Cadillacs interiors) should be inexpensive. Yeah, like you said, go find an inexpensive competitor.

A lot of people don't have much money because they feel that debt is the way to live to have all the "nice" material things. I like living with nice things and no debt. Mustangs aren't expensive, people just have expensive taste and too much debt. Hard, smart work while saving money = nice things without debt. Ta da!!
i like to live without debt too but when we have 2 income, and very little house payment, but i still cannot afford a $70,000 car payment, i dont think its my fault esp when we are mostly paying bills we have and 2 kids. yes we save money and plan to use the money for a new vehicle, but if its a choice between my daily driver for the family or another mustang, i have to have priorities for family first. but i guess if you dont think $70,000 is expensive then i guess i cannot really relate to you either. last time i looked everything was expensive.....

At what period of time do remember people saying that everything is priced just right and they weren't complaining about car prices being high? Answer: It's never been that way.

People think in terms of the cost of a car being what the car payment is instead of "how can I just pay for the car" and some people even pay MSRP which is insane. If one can't just pay for the car, they can't afford it but then I've only had one car payment decades ago.

Work hard, work smart. Mustangs aren't expensive cars until one fills it up with options which is right where the manufacturer makes most of their profit. My Mustang GT didn't cost anywhere near $70K. I don't want or need a car that costs $70K but I had the money when I bought my GT.

bare bones mustang GT will cost $48k + taxes. not sure what you actually get but thats the cheapest you can get. IF i save my extra money i will have $40,000 in 5 years.... by that time the new 2025 will be 5 years old and the 2030 will be $12,500 more (based on $2.5k per year inflation)
so i will still be short. unless my math is wrong im still not able to pay cash for the total amount....
maybe we are not talking apples-apples here. even at the lowest price point and saving money (plus paying bills) i will not make enough to pay cash straight out. do i want to? yes. so unless you have money growing somewhere, im missing something of the point you are making.
FYI, i never paid MSRP for any of my cars so that is not a topic. i dont consider myself "rich" either, but i can buy food for my table. unfortunately i never found it "easy" to save money when it was mostly 1 income and that was paying most of the bills....i saved where i could and traded in cars to offset the costs. but i guess i was doing that wrong too huh?

Well, my point was certainly not to be critical, rather to point out that cars CAN be paid for. I wrote a check when I was 19 y.o. to pay for my first brand new car in total. No, it wasn't a Mustang but I was happy. When I was 17 y.o. I had, maybe a thousand to my name. So, where did the money come from in just 2 years? Answer: I worked a minimum of 84 hours up to 105 hours per week offshore during summers while going to college and paying for that too.

ANYBODY that wants to work hard and work smart can make good money. People make better money when they better themselves. If a job doesn't pay enough, everyone is free to get a better paying job, better yet, make their own job. Does that mean they deserve a Mustang whenever they want? Only if they can afford it.

I'm very blessed to be able to pay cash for my vehicles. That said, Im not rich, and I do have to save and plan accordingly. Most people do not have the luxury of paying 50k out of pocket for a new vehicle, and that should not automatically make them irresponsible car buyers who dont work hard. You can still buy things and finance responsibly

@Frogdog1 and @AZ_Ryan ..... agreed. Did the same - worked hard from 11 years old on. Paid cash for everything unless I got a 0% finance opportunity. Made choices, set priorities. Friends pi$$ed their money away and now complain "it isn't fair". Paid all my university, books to courses to accommodation. Invested every penny that was left over each month. Sadly, my kids didn't get it. Now my 15 yr old grand daughter DOES get it. Looks like she got my work ethic. She's saving right now for her first Mustang. Life isn't fair but who said it was supposed to be. Life will lay you where it wants to then it's up to you.

I did have a '66 Mustang and it was a good car in it's time. Plenty of power at the time and good gas mileage. Yes, it was the beginning of what's sitting in my garage right now. Apparently, a lot of people still like Mustangs. It even has a cool name......:sunglasses:......so does the engine.

Budget, trade, priorities. Some folks will sleep on a couch in order to buy a car. Each circumstance is unique. It’s not the practice but the implementation that manages.
