When I purchased my new S650 Mustang recently I was unable to find exactly what I wanted. The closest one had everything but the MageRide suspension. I had it on my S550 and it seemed fine but now that I don't have it I kind of miss it even though I don't know if it is really that big of a deal or am I just making it one in my head.

How many of you out there have it and how many don't?

If you have it, is it something you can't live without or is it just okay?

If you don't, do you regret not having it? Is there an aftermarket suspension set up you think is even better?

I don't have it and don't know what I'm missing. My Mustang is a street car, not a track car. I do know that, IMO, Mustangs don't have good enough steering feedback for me to think about tossing it around on streets much. Maybe Dark Horses do. Having that feeling, I wasn't going to pay for the PP.

I do have experience in totaling one Mustang GT because of an idiot woman and the steering was useless during the event that went into "slow motion" mentally as it was happening. I should have been killed in this wreck but here I am with another GT a few years later. I still like power, just don't trust it's steering enough yet to get too froggy with it in twisties on a public road......yet.

Mustang lovers never learn. As least we don't have solid rear axels anymore.

I don't find the steering that bad in sport mode, but I will say the steering on my 2023 Camaro SS was better and the steering on my 2024 WRX was WAY better.

PS: Love that black roof.

I didn't purchase MR because I didn't want anything computer driven, overly complex and expensive to maintain added to an overly complex car to begin with.
My car is a Premium 401a AE etc and is street only.

No, I haven't learned anything but to ease my way into the handling of my car. I'm thinking about doing the Charlotte driving event. Forgot what it's called.

Yes, on getting rid of the solid rear axle. I did learn that the Mustang I was in when it was totaled probably saved my life. It literally went to pieces almost like an Indy Car it hit the inside retaining wall so hard, nothing but the block was left under the smashed hood. Parts were scattered all over I-24 in Nashville including the front suspension, battery, power steering reservoir, rack and pinion steering, radiators, one front wheel, and various other parts. I just stepped out after picking up my iPhone without a scratch or bruise.

Anyway, the wife and I have almost always had fast vehicles and here I go again after getting rid of sportbikes and getting another car with power. This is Mustang number four and GT number three.

Magneride is awesome, no two ways around that.

But I'm a stubborn bastard, I like my stuff old school. Just seems like another thing to go wrong, as it does in literally every other car I've seen. Always suspension faults after 10+ years, and its always more expensive to fix.

If you're keeping the car forever, wouldn't bother.
If you're keeping the car for less than 10 years, get it for sure

Magnaride doesn't directly change your steering input.

I didn't say magnaride did change the steering if you'll read sentence number one.

My last Mustang had magnaride. I purposely bought my current one without.

I think Magnaride is great on the track.

But it's a pretty worthless gimmick on the street. For one, you can't select the magnaride modes independently of the drive modes. For what it costs, you should be able to do that. Being forced into sport suspension, when you just want sport trottle and shifting is not fun on the street. I also think magnaride is more of a supplement to the stiffer springs that comes with the PP in order to soften the ride.

Since I have no plans to track this car, there is no need for it. The base S650 GT rides and handles much better than the S550 anyway. I don't miss it at all.

Well, the topic is magnaride. And you responded with a comment about the steering feedback, and then told a car crash story that was allegedly due to "unless steering". What am I missing here chief? 🤷‍♂️

MagRide is great, but Ford has limited access to them since they were originally a GM product. GM does more with the programming in their cars, Because of the limits imposed on Ford's purchases they only use them in the performance vehicles and limit the programming to that aspect. Even so, the ride on my 2019 in some aspects, is more comfortable than my 2025 w/o MagRide.

I would have had it if I had the choice, but I'm reasonably happy with the ride and handling.
I like the directness of the steering in sport or track, but there's something a bit strange about the steering that I can't put my finger on. It doesn't self centre very strongly, I'm wondering if there's too little caster.

i do feel like the magneride settles the car, more evident in spirited quick driving. really seems to take bumpy uneven pavement and manage well. am i worried it'll fail at some point? yep.
