I recently installed the Shelby style hood vent from w2bodykits mostly for looks but was curious on functional differences as well. The vent is much lighter than the factory one and slots onto the hood versus having a clip retention method on the rear, the front bolts on in a similar style as the factory one. As far as functionality I don’t have a good way to measure air flow on hand but I do have a thermal camera that I like to play around with. I took a drive around the block with both vents on and tried to take similar pics. With the factory vent on I couldn’t see too much heat but the Shelby style was obvious. It will be interesting to see if it makes any difference on temps next time I take it to the track

I can't imagine there is much practical difference while driving though. Its not like the factory GT vent is overly restrictive or something.

But I do like the looks of the Shelby vent.

I've looked at new hoods every so often, im torn between the super snake style hood or the glass cutout hood that C2customs has listed now that I've got a fancy blower. Probably will just stick with what I have for the time being since I would want any new hood paint matched

Looks great! Was it an easy swap? Is this a Ford OEM part?

been driving mine around seen a few degree drop across the board and iat's 2 to 3 giver or take a few degrees as well as a few on the oil and head temps. its a more open vent less airflow disturbance and turbulence. There's a reason Shelby made the vent the way it is. This is in 100+ degree heat in Florida. With humidity so high you have to chew first before you breath.

Just a note I ordered the the Dark Horse horn cover for $250. Then I was emailed from Ryan saying they needed an extra $85 for shipping. This was months ago and never got the parts I payed for. So as far as I'm concerned their a rip off sight be warned.

I think the metallic bottom of the vent is the heat absorbers and wondered if plastic would give lesser heat?

Welcome to the South. Iā€˜m in the Houston area and we have the same climate as Florida. Cut it with a knife first, then chew!!! Lmbo!!!

Nice Vent Hood by the OP!! Wonder would rain have any effects on the Internals seeing that this is a More Open concept??

Im definitely thinking about ordering one especially if the heat escapes the engine bay better
