So bought the RTR Hood Vent kit from CJ Pony Parts. Arrived fast, quality is good etc. etc.

After some initial issues getting it installed (due to parts, not quality) here are the results.

The RTR video says you need the following....

9mm socket required
T20 torx socket required <---- see below

Mmmmmm, the 9mm was accurate but the T20? Not so much unless Canada makes different T20 Torx sockets (shown below). UPDATE: You need an Allen Key / Socket / Wrench to make these work if they look like the head below.

Long story short, one of the screw/bolts fell out of the speed clip and into my engine comparetment as I was trying to tighten it with the T20. I could hear it hitting the tray on the bottom. I have zero plans to take the bottom of the car down any time soon so now am looking around to replace the one screw/bolt thingy and then go to Home Depot and find a socket that will actually fit these.

The speed clips I received also don't look anything like the speed clips on the RTR video; they look like a crushed version of them. I see that the bags in the RTR video (also shown below) have part numbers on them so I'm gonna see if I can hunt down replacements that way.

I have reinstalled the factory vent in the mean time.

Looks like an Allen bit head.
That is exactly what it was. I had an allen key that worked. I have the vent reinstalled (below).

I'm still short one screw though so hoping someone knows what these button head M4 parts actually are in length. I'd rather have all 4 installed LOL

On that RTR video the assembly hardware comes in two bags. From CJ Pony Parts it came in one bag with no label. Anyone have an Enigma machine? This is from the video.

Try McMaster-Carr, if they don't have it no one does,.

Sidebar: What does this hood vent from RTR do that the OEM didn't, or is it just better looking?

Looks great! How would you rate the fit compared to stock? Any gaps or issues?
It's about 95% of the way there. It does fit differently than OEM but there are no gaps and the only issue was the incorrect instructions resulting in one of the screws dropping down into the engine bay and sitting on the underbelly pan.

Looks better. I don't believe there is any functionality that OEM wouldn't cover.

Matte Black? Looks good..
Correct; they are matte black.

I've reached out to both CJ Pony Parts, via their contact form, and RTR, via their ASK A QUESTION form, and will see if one of them can tell me exactly what size M4 button head screws are used and I'll buy something off Amazon.

Well, if you know the screw size let me know!!!! LOL I have 1 that I need to replace so only 3 out of the 4 are installed.

Did yours screw in with the T20 like they said or did you have to also use an allen key?

Damnnnnnnnnnnnn, you got the tools to?!?! I was actually just looking up on how to read thread pitch. Unfortunately the RTR Hardware kit doesn't really tell you squat. The video said M4 but that was it. I was about to bust out some tea leaves.

You have it on your 2019 Mustang GT or you have a 2024? (The 2024 GT and DH are the same kit).
