My car might soon be legally a lemon, anyone know what happens if I modified the car?

That’s an odd group of problems. If it was me, I’d just disable Carplay and have them focus on the tire issue. Seat cooling could be a bad fuse.

I think overall, Ford wants to make things right on a new car, and I wouldn’t read any more into it.
They do seem to want to make it right. But the dealerships said its much more than just what I"m seeing and hearing. They cant even update the software, among other things. I called Ford corp to ask them to assist . As ford wasn't giving the dealership the resrources to get the bottom of it. in the convo I brought up the lemon law and convo change immediately to buying my car back

Im gong to argue for the upgrades I put in as well.. they can put them in for less than I paid I'm sure
They won't care. What they care is the bottom line-the value that you paid for the car. I promise they're not going to budge to help you out for aftermarket stuff.... in the same way they wouldn't let my wife sneak in a few additional options for her new Expedition because it would be a few hundred bucks more than she paid for the Aviator. Also, the dealership has zero control over the buyback process, just FYI.

Unless you truly have a car that you hate, I'd take the cash option and put it towards upgrades. It'll more than pay for something nice. Just my 2 cents tho

buyback might be your best bet. Ask for a deal and priority scheduling for a new one

I'll see where it goes on Friday. At least FL seems to be the more in favor of the driver compared to other state's lemon laws. Even including collateral input.

What audio upgrades did you actually do? Are you able to remove your upgrades prior to the buy back if you choose this option? I know insurances will let you remove all your mods as long as you can replace it with the OEM parts. I would think your service advisor would allow you to do that?

Dealership said its a ford defect. I asked about what i put on it soeaker etc. He said no whatever the issue is is Ford. They got approval to replace a $3,000 part. I need to ask again what that part is. To hopefully fix it. Im not as worried as i was. Taking the car back doesnt affect the ability to circle back again if needed.

It cant be fixed. It's finalizing the buy back. I put only 3,500 miles on it, so hopefully my deduction is only about $1700 from total cost. I dont need to remove anything, pending finalization, ford's been fair. about it.
I'd possibly get another mustang, as I think staying with a new ford has an incentive with it as well. But i had to put quite a bit of $ into it to make me happy with it the last one. Esp since the "BO" audio was ehhh.

Hi
From what I see from FL lemon law if ford takes my car for being in service over 30 days, then 10 more add'l after notifying ford, , they dont have to pay me for the $7000 or so I put into it: Audtio upgrade, alarm, fog lights, ambient lighting. I'm hoping my car is not determined legally a lemon or they repair it, or compensate me some other way if either of the other things don't happen.

I'm nervous I'll hit that 30 day, as it's been over 3 weeks already, and the service dept (my contact there who is great) is very stressed and doesn't know the fix after three weeks. I dont know if service knows the cause. They said they are brining in an (or a few) engineers to work on it. It has to do with the audio, the connection of the different music options (xm, radio, Car Play). It has the issue everyone else gets on occasion at least of car play not connecting, but there's more to it than that on my car. It will sometimes play both XM and CarPlay at same time for instance. Apparently ford found more than that electronically or more (?). I dont know if there are other problems with the car they see that I don't know about, but Ford does.

Anyhow has anyone had their modified mustang/ or ford 'taken' back b/c of lemon law? I'd really lose out on this unless paid back what I put into it.

THanks!
I don't think Ford will compensate you for modification you made. I think they will just go off the original cost of the car. However it seems on here I'm always wrong but I hope it works out for you.

I'm about to get the offer if I stay with Ford. There's really big incentves at my local dealer. I know 2025 year over year msrp is up $4,000. But the incentives are $7.000 off msrp If it stacks with corporate, it's a better chance I do a re-do. Even better if I can somehow order the car exact as I had but with stick and dark rims 🔥

I got everything I paid back. It might have been b/c of the reason for the lemonization. I was told by service that I couldnt even have a choice of having the car back due to safety issues, which is probably why the payback ended up as it did. I'll never know what those issues were. I didnt think it would actually get to the point of a buy back, it was one of those outside chances. It was weird as F situation overall and I'm glad it's over.
It was very stressful, would been much worse if I wasnt fully reimbursed.

Glad that worked out in your favor ! I would have been stressed to say the least...
Yes. It was stressful. Mainly not knowing what I'll get back. Esp with the $$$$ i dropped into it. Lucky I drove only 3k miles. Thats can be a 50cent per mile deduction. Then looking for a replacement car. Missed work hours $$. Im so glad it's over.
Wow, congrats on getting a decent outcome to your problem! Maybe I missed it, but what happened with all the mods you put on it? Is that lost money?
I got it all back all of it. Yes aftermarkets $$$ -- No deduction even for miles. Thogh it had only 3k on it.

Like i mentioned, Im sure the fact I was not allowed to take the car back influnced what I got back. I do not know what the result would have been if it ended up not a safety concern.
