Happened on the highway. Powertrain malfunction. Put me in limp mode but it cleared as soon as I parked. Should I take it in to get looked at? Seems fine now. I've been beating on it a little bit and no more issues.

Wait a minute, I see the picture and noticed that you went through the tunnel and wondered if that was causing the problem? Would pulling off to the side to restart the car after getting out of the tunnel would work?

It wasn't in the tunnel. It was on the highway just went in limp mode while driving. As soon as I stopped and restarted it went away.

unfortunately, because this is just a wrench light and no check engine light, there is a decent chance that no code was set. stuff like that is super frustrating to diagnose and fix because of it. if you PM me your VIN, i can check OASIS and see if a code was set

What were you doing when it happened? All your temps look fine.

Just gave it a little gas to pass someone on the highway. Only doing 55-60. Nothing ridiculous. Seemed like a transmission hiccup on the downshift. 10A car.

Not a big deal. It was fine after a restart. If it happens again I'll take it in. I'm only a couple miles from the dealership.

check your fluids; IDK about coolant, I’d not heard of that one before, but Ford is pretty aggressive about motor preservation strategy and oil level is definitely one that will send you into limp home mode. Definitely hit up @roket and see if you threw a DTC.
or check with FORSCAN....

Interesting. Going into limp mode without a CEL seems weird to me. I'm glad it's back to normal. But if my car when into limp mode I'd definitely bring it into the dealer and at least have then check the trans fluid. I'm sure they can dig up some data on the event as well. These cars record everything.

I've had other cars have similar incidents. Could have been a traction control incident. Get those in my jeep sometimes on sand dunes if I forget to disable traction control. If no repeats I'll be okay until the first service. Trans temps are normal and everything is under warranty so no real worries.

I got a "Powertrain Malfunction/Reduced Power" message with the little wrench in the bottom right of my '24 Lariat 5.0. Took it to the dealer and they said it was a GSM, with a TSB of 25-2045, Gear Selector Module which of course isnt in stock, to come in 10 days from last Thursday around 7-7-25. I had to take the truck on a 1100 mile round trip the next day. The message came and went by itself and no difference in performance but the Ford tech said the transmission could be stuck in Park at some point. I took my chances and no problem after 4 days on the road. Less than 5K miles on the truck. C'mon Ford, do better!

Glad you made the trip. The "luck gods" were with you. Yes, Ford, do better.
