What is the point?

I understand the purpose, it limits the top speed of the car to the posted limit, or in absence of a scanned speed limit sign, to whatever speed you are at when you activate the limiter.

Adaptive cruise control does that, and adapts to traffic in front of you. If you don't want to speed, you set the ACC to the speed limit, and adjust the speed when the limit changes. The only time that I could see the ISL being useful would be going through an active school zone, but then, all you have to do is not push the gas so hard and actually modulate your speed like we did in the Before Times.

Intelligent speed limiter. One of several of my GT's "nannies" that had tragic firearms related deaths 😉 before I drove it off the dealers lot. 😆

I really like the speed monitor one of the best features. It reminds you of the speed limit ( vigorously) so if you speed, you are well aware of it in advance.

" If you don't want to speed, you set the ACC to the speed limit, and adjust the speed when the limit changes. " - isn't the point that the ISL does that for you, adjusting the speed when the limit changes? Especially when the speed limit changes often within a short distance. Happens a lot in Europe

And if you like to go 10 over the limit then just set it in settings and the car will keep that whenever it passes a sign with the new limit. So 80 in a 70 zone is standard for me on long trips…I don’t use this when I am “driving” :)

Here's the point:

If you don't want to speed, you set the ACC to the speed limit, and adjust the speed when the limit changes.
The point is that it does this for you so you don't have to, or if you happen miss seeing a speed limit sign.

Fairly simple concept, really.

This reminds me of the words written in the pages of a car mag many years ago. I think it was Csaba Csere speaking on ABS: (sic) "Oh great. Now drivers can coast through a slick street stop sign straight ahead!" I don't think I've ever had that happen with ABS; they always cause the car to veer toward the ditch!

I tested a while back, but didnt work for me.
On the highway it works fine...unless there is a express lane on the side. and you are driving on the regular lanes!...the car reads the limit from the express lane, and immediately accelerates to the new speed ... I disabled it.
Nice feature, but not usefull in my area...
