EVs are a viable option if you own your own home and can charge at home.

Until they do something to beef up the infrastructure .... unfortunately outside of the Tesla charging network ....most other networks are not exactly reliable... they are also time consuming

If I lived in an apartment... no way I would buy an electric car at this stage

I'm still trying to figure out how here in California they have both passed and EV mandate while also performing rolling black outs because our infrastructure can't keep up.

I think the biggest cost driver in the Mustang is that while in the past is was built on a shared platform.... think Ford Granada ... Lincolns... exc it's now on a dedicated platform

I often wonder what would have happened if Ford had followed through on having the Explorer and Mustang on the same platform?

@highvoltage ..... anyone who thinks that other than appearance the 650 doesn't differ much from the 550 needs to do some reading.
Agreed. But people have their opinions whether facts say otherwise. Lol

I thought this too but then I realized I don't drive that much and I could charge at a station once or twice a week, it wouldn't be a big deal

Could just ignore the thread. And the other 2 or so recent ones.
And I could choose to post. It's a free country.

The 😭 never stops ...

I have a Mach-E and it’s really fast. And is fun overall. The only thing you miss with an EV is the pure raw sound of a V8 and the exhaust note. Also Teslas look like bland eggs in terms of shape.

To me, owning both a V8 and an EV…the V8 wins in terms of overall fun factor. Also with a traditional ICE vehicle there are way more choices in terms of style, design, and special purpose vehicles.

To each their own- EVs can be fun and have great tech … but it’s hard to replace a wild sounding V8/V10/V12 IMO.
Kind of like owning a fast Kawasaki and a Harley

My last Kawi was a 2017 C14, I had to put a slip on pipe on it because when it ran thru the stock pipe I could not hear the damn thing and I shift by exhaust note

Still a super quiet sub 11 second 150+ MPH bike... just very little feedback via the ear.

Now my 2013 Harley is a whole 100HP 100 Ft pounds, which is a lot for a 103" tractor motor

And it is obnoxiously loud (which is why my 2003 Harley is the bike I use most of the time.

But l do enjoy turning gasoline into noise sometimes, and I used to be real good at turning rubber into smoke

IMO it was these more than anything else.

New Model Transition: The new S650 ICE Mustang was launched in 2024 with updated features and styling. Ford faced some quality issues with the S550 Mustang when it was introduced in 2015.

Higher Interest Rates: Rising interest rates made financing more expensive, particularly for performance-oriented vehicles like the S650 Mustang.

Don’t forget it was an election year with a lot of uncertainty. People pause on larger purchases

Also FRAP in Michigan was closed for 1-2 months in 2024. I think in July they produced zero Mustangs if I remember correctly.

I’m grateful that Ford is making a V8 Mustang. I’ll keep buying them as long as Ford keeps making them. An American brand and American built car is a huge plus.

@robvas..... respectfully, consider this: there will soon be a road tax on most EVs as model for model they are about 40% heavier, their tires wear-out about 50% faster, many jurisdictions are going to limit them to the first floor of parking garages, some jurisdictions are going to limit the charging to 90% capacity for pure parking garages and 80% capacity in condo garages and by far the last comment - there is a lot of talk about charges for their final disposal - sort of an EV musical chair game, the last poor sucker holding one will have to pay. Hybrid, maybe - pure EV, bad news.

Charging spots in public garages are ‘reserved’ spots for special people. Grates me everytime.

There is nothing in an EV that isn't in a hybrid when it comes to end of life.
