Just had my first oil change done at the dealership yesterday (5600 miles) and I had them use Full synthetic Motorcraft. Per the paperwork they put in 10 quarts. I will check the oil today and see where it's at. My oil was full from day one (bough in April) and I don't think it really ever used any or if it did it was very small and was never low in those 5600 miles.
Why did you wait so long for the change? I thought everyone did their first change in a brand new car early. After the 1000 mile break in.

1250. I would have done it sooner but the garage was pretty cold.

Sounds about what I’m gonna do. Did you notice any drop throughout that first 1k miles or did your level stay the same?

It went from the upper 3rd to the lower 3rd.

I sent a sample in for analysis too.

I'm not too worked up about it. I don't plan on using that oil (motorcraft) and it's the first oil change. The manual does comment about consumption in the first few K miles.

Yeah I noticed consumption doesn’t level out until 3k I’ll be buying an extra quart of amsoil when I make my order so if I ever need to top up I can do it easily

If you're interested in my factory fill UOA at 1275 miles, I'll post it up when it comes in.

Why did you wait so long for the first oil change? If I’m understanding you correctly these cars are only holding 9.5 now instead of 10 or they are only shipping them with 9.5? I don’t have any data to compare against. I will be watching closer now. You are making me want to get a quart of motor craft just in case. Even if I don’t use it. I personally don’t like it being so low to the minimum mark but per Ford they say don’t add any. Most of my driving has been commutes around town and 30 min one way drives to work. Should I be alarmed if it was at the top and in under 400 miles I’m already burning oil to this degree?
I waited to mitigate the BBQ Tick. But got a slight case of it anyway. There’s a theory that the Ford factory oil contains an additive (XL17) which is suspended graphite/graphene. Look up “Coyote XL17” for more info on that. For more in depth information look up “suspended graphite oil”.

Regarding oil capacity some documents say 9.5 others say 10. Look at the online owners manual PDF vs HTML.

Definitely monitor your oil level frequently especially since you don’t have a zero mile base line. If it hits the lower mark before your oil change then definitely add a half quart and remonitor. I wouldn’t worry until you compare against your current baseline.

Would adding oil be a bad idea?
