Why does the owners manual show the passenger side opening as a USB. The one on my car is in the middle close to the glass. It's powered with the car shutdown and not in the accessory mode. Flimsy also.
Am I missing something.
Thanks
There is a slot for a wire to come in/out on the passenger side. The actual port as you said is facing the hood.

to the detector via Bluetooth. You wont be disap
I have been out of the Radar detector scene for 20 years.

Why did you guys go with the R8? It looks like the V1 Gen 2 has better app support and perhaps connectivity to Android Auto?
Much prefer my Uniden R8 paired with Highway Radar via BT and running Waze on AA.

Mine doesn't have that 5-pin connector all the tutorials show. Base Ecoboost is most likely why.
But ALL 2024 Mustangs have rain-sensing wipers, so I should have the same power going to a rain sensor amongst all these wires. The question is, where do I insert the tap pins into?

And if you use a proper trim removal tool, the cover will come off with all four yellow clips still intact!

FYI: Ya'll know there is a USB-A female socket on the bottom edge of the what's mounted to the windshield, right? The icon right next to it implies that you can draw power from it.

Is that USB-A enough to power a Valentine RD ?

most people have not had success using the USB to power the radar. It does not provide enough current

Same.
I hard wired to the rain sensor per this post and my V1G2 works perfectly.

I hardwired with a wiretap to the rain sensor also and am running an Escort MAX360 and M2 dashcam. No problems so far.

Late to the party for this thread, but just ordered my wire tap today. This is usually the very first thing I do when I get a new car. Thanks for the wirte-up on how to remove the housing!

How straight ahead does a radar detector need to be ? I'm tall and cant get the V1 gen 2 facing dead ahead. Id guess its 5 degrees to the right .... i'm using the Blend Mount.

you’re fine but not sure why you wouldn’t be able to mount it straight?
radar waves are exactly that, waves. So they expand outward and seriously doubtful a few degrees off axis will affect anything other than a few specific cases

I use the Uniden R8 in my DH (Blendmount and wire tap) as well as the F150. I've been using that clunky coil cord in the truck because I've been lazy, but I recently got sick enough of it to add a wire tap to the rearview mirror in the truck. Mucho better!

Thanks. I can't get it straight due to the way i need the mirror set for me. If i was shorter it wouldnt be a problem. it should work ok but i wish it was straight down the hood centerline. Ill try to get it straighter tomorrow but i have my doubts. That said the Blend Mount is the way to go 100%

Interesting. I’m also really tall and don’t have that problem. Have you tried loosening the blendmount on the stalk and sliding it “away” from the rear housing? Maybe post a pic and we can compare
