A mach fully optioned out is 70k, a base gt500 is 75k. Dark Horse may be 73k? I was cross shopping those options. I chose Dark Horse for reasons, but I can see where you may be tempted.

Any options at all on the GT500 increases the price quickly though, and I decided I wanted an optioned car, so that helped my decision.
Time will tell, but itā€™s really a matter of wanting a loaded GT+ model versus a stripper halo Shelby model

And then on the topic of used versus new, itā€™s about warranties and ā€œnew car factorā€ personal values versus finding a clean example with hopefully a good ownership history

Iā€™m still bumping you for that 70K M1. You had to check every single windscreen, floor mat, commemorative tattoo available to get that lol

Canā€™t use the GT500 base of 75K argument without being able to order it.

I expect the 500s to go up in price when 2023s are sold.

There is so much "hype" over the dark horse that it will probably come in way over inflated by ADM's unless someone has an inside relationship with a dealership. I guess it's fun to compare vehicles, but the gt350, 500, and I suspect the DH are all different animals designed with different characteristics. To the OP question though, it all comes down to that Shelby vs "regular Mustang" thing. The 500 is a killer at the track and unbelievable capable. For many its a no go due to the Auto Trans. We could debate all day auto vs manual, but that is not the point. I prefer manual in a sports car for the engagement factor while driving. It's not the same experience... not saying that's good or bad, it's just a different experience.
If you are tracking your car it is easier to learn in an auto transmission unless you have auto rev matching for your manual gear box. Whether you buy a 500 or DH the track experience goals should be the same... take it easy, work on driver mod first. The capabilities of these cars are so beyond what us avg guys could hope to achieve.

Tough crowd here on the 350's by the way..... so far my car has been referred to a an "oil consuming, uninspiring Turd". It's funny how the car everyone was pining over 5-6 years ago and that won numerous awards is now seen as an after thought....
LOL....

I only selected the options i wanted, if i wanted fighter jet gray it would be even more, right at 69,900.

Options are premium, red calipers, bo sound, elite package, handling package, recaros, auto(not sure yet), nav(because whats 500 bucks here)

No extra floormats or anything

Damn thatā€™s an insane price tag, but those are essentially all of the options minus the Fighter Jet Gray/M1 Appearance Package.

I built out something more or less identical, minus the red calipers, nav upgrade (what does it even offer, like a Sirius trial extension), and made it a manual.

$67k

Ok fair so that would be the equivalent of blue ember DH with appearance package essentially.

These cars are definitely getting up there in price, especially the higher end variants. 70K is C8 territory, assuming you can get an order in or want to wait.

And yes, I know they're two different types of cars, but if you don't need back seats and can handle a DCT versus a manual...

A GT500 comes equipped with almost all the options... You can option things that cannot be optioned on a regular GT like carbon fiber stuff and overpriced race stripes and such but a regular gt500 is always an upgrade over a standard GT. Just look at the interior...

Buy a GT500, drive it for a year or two and then ship it to Europe for ~$80000...

With the tech pack and handling pack to be similarly equipped, its over 85. Ill take the 15k saved and get some track lessons and hpde time. Then ill upgrade a few years down the road if I want. That's my plan.

The dark horse is really what i want right now, I was just mentioning i did think about a base gt500 early on.

I too have a choice between fully loaded DH not to be built until lord knows when, versus a 2021 GT500 with less than 2000 miles for less than $5000 more.

Well, I went the GT 500 route, bought a 2021 with 1967 miles and handling and tech package in performance blue. Still has some warranty left on it.
11.5ā€x20ā€ rear wheels and 11ā€x20ā€ front. $85k out the door. 1 previous owner.

The correct choice but $85k should be quite a bit more than 'less than $5000 more' than a Dark Horse ;)
Anyhow, I envy your decision and would love to have the option to get a GT500 for $85K... Here in Germany used GT500s start around 120000ā‚¬...
