2024 Mustang GT: X-Pipe vs H-Pipe on the Dyno! Not The Results We Expected...

We've done this test on a 2021 Mustang GT in the past, but with the new Gen 4 Coyote, it's time for a repeat with the 2024 Mustang GT! When it comes to resonator deletes, it's an age-old debate between X-Pipe or H-Pipe and which sounds better. But there's also a measurable difference in how the power falls on the curve which we've seen on the S550s and past Mustangs. With the S650 it's time to see if that difference carries over with the new engine... and by how much.

H-pipe, the low tone is how a V8 Mustang should sound.
The X-pipe raspy sound is for the Honda Civic guys,

Thanks for the honest dyno interpretation. Isn't there some weight savings with this modification as well? Any idea what the weight savings is if so?

here's the tl;dw for the video: it's all for sound now. no notable horsepower gains, they're all within margin of error and about the same

Yes, and I would just add that they mentioned the reason may be due to the S650 having better exhaust from the start than the S550 hence the 6 HP gain when selecting active exhaust.

No fun in that.

I'm not entirely surprised by these results, Ford has seemingly spent more and more time on exhaust R&D throughout the years to make a fairly well flowing but quiet factory exhaust. That being said, the weight loss will still help slightly. I see this as a win for the quiet crowd.

I am a bit surprised since the resonator looks the same as the S550. Replacing that led to gains so it must have been a restriction. You should still see gains removing a restriction on the S650. Can't wait for someone to cut one open and compare with the S550 so we will know for sure.

I have seen a 650 make 9whp with a H pipe on somebodies video very recently. Maybe on FB.

Did the traps and then the H pipe.

Stock was 404.x wheel
traps was 413.x wheel
traps and H pipe was 424.x wheel.

Was SAE correction and a 10A car.

Every dyno and every car is different. Ambient conditions factor also.

idk they sound literally 100% identical to me in this video. wearing headphones and bouncing to the exact second on the x/h-pipe hard fly-by in track and they sound like the same clip used twice

still think the x/h pipe sound difference is overplayed on mustang forums. it's all in the mufflers.
