The quality looks amazing, I might get this for my SUV, but I wouldn’t want the screen for the Mustang, too distracting (much more so than the rear view mirror, especially at night).

For the Mustang I’m considering the Viofo, but doing some research now. Although, I would love to add a forward-facing bumper cam on the Mustang for when I’m parking up against high curbs… 🤔

Are there any that integrate with the car’s screen?

I actually just bought 3 of these for my car. Front camera is amazing quality, no issues there. The rear camera could definitely be better. Those windows aren’t tinted on the video you posted. If you have tinted windows like I do it cuts down on the light of the camera so much. So at night time all you get is a black grainy mess unless you’re in a lighted area. You can see it in the video too, it also has a ridiculous glare when mounted on the inside of the rear window. My truck is mounted on the license plate and it’s much better. The owners manual even suggest it be placed outside the car. I’m in the process of moving the rear cameras to the back of the car.

Way too invasive. I use a Garmin x310 and it sits just beyond the rear view mirror in the passenger side and is out of my line of sight while driving. It also is wired into the rear view mirror usb a port. So it’s a zero interaction experience and it records every the in 4k and the quality is great Day or night.

I highly recommend it.
Mirror USB port - wait what? *rushes out to check* 😮

Well? Does your car have the port too? I know it isn’t on every trim level. I have a 401A GT Convertible, 2024.

Every picture on the Garmin site looks like "fish eye" lens, distorted, as a result of trying to get a wide angle. Does it look that bad in real life?

I Think it looks pretty great.

To my eye, it seems to distort the view in an attempt to get a wider angle.

I am sort of picky about that sort of thing from competing in long range precision rifle. I would not want my optic to distort the view, so I guess I notice it when the video from a dash camera does the same thing.

I don't know. I just ran across it today with that YouTube video and thought it looked pretty neat. BTW, he spins out at the end of the video, but there is a neat pass he finally makes of a car, very aggressively, when the car slides and has to back out at the exit of a turn, and he leaves the track a little to pass on the outside, and then that car is chasing him right up until he ends up sideways going down the track. It is a neat video in its own right, and the rear view allows you to see the car chasing after it is passed.

The dash cam doesn’t know what it needs to focus on. Having a wider angle means it’s considerably more likely to catch what it needs to. Unlike a scope that you are very intentionally pointing at one specific thing.
