The Ford dealer in my country uses blend oil, unfortunately this shocked me, and now I am confused. Should I use synthetic oil and change it every 8,000 km, or continue and change the blend oil every 5,000 km? Of course, the dealer’s maintenance schedule is every 8,000 km, blend oil.

I have the maintenance package so the dealer changes my oil. Whatever they put in it is fine because if something goes wrong it'll be on them!

Here is the issue. Manufactures and dealers are in the business to sell new cars. Following their schedule will put you in the market for a replacement car when it is expected for you to buy a new one by their standards as well as keeping "the total cost of ownership" low. Blend oil is fine, but the durations... not so much in my experience. If you plan on owning this car 3 to five years, in reality it won't matter what oil, and the durations are fine, stop worrying.

On the other hand if you desire to keep and drive the car 20+ years and 500,000 miles I would dare you to think differently about oil as well as all the other fluids and durations.

Any oil with routine changes will easily get you through the warranty duration.

Enjoy your car.

You can request your dealer install Ford Full Synthetic oil. It will probably cost more, but I plan to do that when my car breaks in.

My dealer Serv. Dept. is so cool, they will let me bring in my own oil and filter and they’ll put it in. I did that with my ‘06 GT.

But with this fresh start on my new GT, I’ll stick with Motorcraft for everything possible, in case I have any warranty issues come up.

For oil changes on my 2025 Dark Horse, I buy two 5-quart jugs of Mobil 1 Extended Performance 5W30 Full Synthetic (about $30 each) and a Mobil 1 Oil Filter (about $11) at Walmart and supply them to my Ford dealer to do the oil change. The dealer only charges for labor. My price estimates for materials are from March 2025. Since I am a low mileage driver (less than 5000 miles/yr.), I only plan to change the oil and filter once per year.

Why is no one mentioning the oil life monitor? My practice has been to change oil when the monitor gets down to 25 -20%, seems to work well. 2013 Mustang 6 cylinder when driven 15,000 miles per year, this happened at 7000 miles. Now that I have a 2024 GT driven less than 5000 miles per year, it happens before 4000 miles or about 11-12 months.

Just use PUP or any full synthetic and forget about it. It's your car so you can put anything you want in it. My dealer likes blend too but I just told them they're wrong for my car and they put what I wanted in it.

I have never believed in synthetic blends because you don't know what you're really getting. Yeah, they say they meet a rating but oil is either/or to me. I treat all new cars as though I am going to keep them because one never knows what the future really holds. Any car that is going to take up space in my garage will be treated with the best of care.
