I'm using an old Valentine One. It may be old but it still works superbly.

I decided to just leave it in my new s650 given how easy it is to "get carried away" in the car. Besides that, my car is "radar red" and through the years, I have discovered that red cars definitely do attract radar hits more than non-red cars. My unit has saved me an amount of money and points that I wouldn't even begin to estimate.

Another thing I've learned is that my eyes are as good a radar detector as anything else. Just have to remember to use them to spot them hiding "in the bushes".

Who else uses what?
I bought one right around the time I bought my mustang, and did A LOT of research to find out which one had the highest detection, lowest false alarms, and directional arrows. Also I wanted the ability to today the firmware, as new updates/inprovements are released for future-prood.

I went with the Uniden R8 and absolutely love it. The vortex radar website and YouTube channel is a great resource for optimizing the settings which are VERY customizable. You can actually download a file of settings from the vortex radar website, download the Uniden app, and load all the recommended settings without having to manually set them all.

I use that in combination with the Waze app, and have never gotten in trouble.

Only cops you'll ever miss with that combo are simply the ones not shooting radar.

Good to know, thanks for sharing! Waze is pretty good to use where there is traffic, as in interstates and busy enough roads to have enough other people using Waze.

Rather than start a new thread, has anyone used those license plate "covers" that are supposed to make "red light and stationary speed radars" not be able to read your plate"?

So, the questions are: do they work and has anyone had a cop stop them for using them?

Mike Valentine was a great guy, a great philanthropist donating millions to colleges and such, also a bit of a genius in speed tax reduction. He loved Porsches too.
I spoke to him a couple of times to get quick answers to an issue, and had contact via a Discord channel. He was always helpful, but didn't tolerate idiots very much. Which is why he avoided detector forums.
It was a great shock when he died, and it's good to see the business is carrying on.

Some detectors offer fuse box power and others have obd2 adapters. Fuse box seems better. Any different opinions? Don't have a detector in my 25 and have started looking at options.

I have the redline ci 360 in mine and I love it. Have the display mounted on the steering wheel column in a custom housing and the button bad mounted under the infotainment screen. 3 sensors mounted in front and 2 in the rear. Discreet and works incredibly.

I've always powered it via the fuse box, until this Mustang. I tapped into the mirror power.

I've read the power does not go off to that port for almost an hour after the car is shut off. What is your experience? I'd hate to end up with a drained battery.

I didn't use the USB port, I tapped into the connector.
I couldn't post the link for some reason. Search below

Do you happen to have a pic of the front and rear sensors. I'm researching and don't want them interfering with anything but still be discreet.

I don't, but I cant take some a little later. The rear sensors are tucked up barely peeking out on each side of the license plate. Two front sensors are mounted on the top side of the air inlet holes in the front bumper and one is in the center of the grill

I found some that I cropped and you can see the sensors. You just can't see the 3rd one in the front. It's in the center behind the grill.
They are more hidden on my other cars, but this one didn't have many options. No one ever notices them and if they do, they don't know what they are.

Hi, I’ve had and been using the Escort Redline 360C for about 3 years now and I love it. I can honestly say that this radar detector has saved me from several tickets. It alerts you of radar from such a long distance away so you have plenty of time to adjust your speed. It is extremely customizable and you can turn on or off whatever frequency bands you don’t want or not used in your area, on mine I ditched the x and k band and use KA since that’s pretty much all that’s used here , except for laser and with that well by the time you rea you’ve been clocked with laser it’s too late. Although this does have the capability of adding escorts laser shifters to.“jam” laser signals , the cost and thought of getting caught with them isnt worth it, plus they prefer to have them custom installed so there is that added cost , but if you can afford em more power to you.The radar detector alone cost me close to $1000. When they came out but worth every bit .. No issues with the app for it and just one of the best if not the best detectors out on the market
