I'm using an old Valentine One. It may be old but it still works superbly.

I decided to just leave it in my new s650 given how easy it is to "get carried away" in the car. Besides that, my car is "radar red" and through the years, I have discovered that red cars definitely do attract radar hits more than non-red cars. My unit has saved me an amount of money and points that I wouldn't even begin to estimate.

Another thing I've learned is that my eyes are as good a radar detector as anything else. Just have to remember to use them to spot them hiding "in the bushes".

Who else uses what?
I bought one right around the time I bought my mustang, and did A LOT of research to find out which one had the highest detection, lowest false alarms, and directional arrows. Also I wanted the ability to today the firmware, as new updates/inprovements are released for future-prood.

I went with the Uniden R8 and absolutely love it. The vortex radar website and YouTube channel is a great resource for optimizing the settings which are VERY customizable. You can actually download a file of settings from the vortex radar website, download the Uniden app, and load all the recommended settings without having to manually set them all.

I use that in combination with the Waze app, and have never gotten in trouble.

Only cops you'll ever miss with that combo are simply the ones not shooting radar.

Good to know, thanks for sharing! Waze is pretty good to use where there is traffic, as in interstates and busy enough roads to have enough other people using Waze.

Rather than start a new thread, has anyone used those license plate "covers" that are supposed to make "red light and stationary speed radars" not be able to read your plate"?

So, the questions are: do they work and has anyone had a cop stop them for using them?

Mike Valentine was a great guy, a great philanthropist donating millions to colleges and such, also a bit of a genius in speed tax reduction. He loved Porsches too.
I spoke to him a couple of times to get quick answers to an issue, and had contact via a Discord channel. He was always helpful, but didn't tolerate idiots very much. Which is why he avoided detector forums.
It was a great shock when he died, and it's good to see the business is carrying on.
