We’ve owned 3 GT’s now, and really TRIED to go with the EcoBoost on the last one….

You may not be missing much, as these S650s feel much more buttoned down (neutered!) than S550's. The computers automatically brake specific wheels if you go into a corner too hot. Ford would rather you get brake wear rather than tire wear (at least in turns).

I'm sure they can still do burnouts easily, but I want to get loose in the corners and I can tell the car is being held back sometimes.

Maybe the Performance Package cars allow a little more wiggle room, I don't know.
I still occasionally turn off the traction control if I feel more brave than usual…..no traction control on and playing with the paddles enables the car to exit corners on full boil….

I get it….Once you drive a V8 it’s hard to go back. I drove a Plymouth Prowler for 6 years, and as insanely cool as that car was, I got tired of the V6. I really missed the sound and thrust of a V8. Then got an 06 Mustang GT used in 07, and drove that all the way up to last month. I really loved the sound of the 4.6 through Flowmasters.

But damn, this 5.0 through variable exhaust is way too much fun. 😁

I have to drive out of my retirement community in quiet mode, but as soon as I am out of the gate, one of the louder modes is first choice in the dash. NORMAL seems just right most of the time. Love the popping and burbles when taking your foot off the gas and coasting up to red lights…

Well, I loved sliding my 5.0’s a bit with the throttle coming out of corners, and quickly catching it with counter steering……seems a a bit of a shame to me not to be able to do that now so often, as I have Parkinson’s (thanks for asking). Also, believe it or not, insurance rates actually go up when you turn 70……Any other pithy questions?
Jesus man, I was just asking a question. I am really sorry about your Parkinson’s. But you never mentioned anything about health concerns so try to ease up a little.

I
Two of my neighbors across the street have told me how good my 5.0 sounds when I back it out of the garage. One of them said it sounded bad ass! I have to agree!

There are two traction control settings. Hitting the button once disables traction control. Holding it in for five seconds turns off stability control. Track/drag/custom modes do it also I believe.

I'm in the minority here. I've owned nine turbo vehicles, and seven were fours. Their exhaust note is indeed unique, perhaps a bit ruckus, but you get used to it.

As for the insurance, I do pay a higher premium just because it is a Mustang. If that doesn't ring a bell, we need to remember that V8 Mustangs have one of the highest accident rates. So many in fact, there are about five different YouTube channels dedicated to "Mustangs being Mustangs". The only good aspects, if there are any, is the fuel mileage and the fun-factor. Oh! And about $15,000 less costly!

I mentioned this in a similar post a few weeks ago. I also live in a 55+ community. Don't worry about your loud exhaust as most of your neighbors are deaf anyways. I figure the old gals like it because they always smile and wave as I drive by in track mode.

Every car I've owned before this one was a 4 banger. I could have went with an Ecoboost and saved about 10k but decided, what the hell, you only live once, and I want to experience what it is like to drive a V8.

I have zero regrets, the extra 10k was well worth it along with the higher insurance and gas costs. I look forward to driving this car when I wake up every morning and really think I would have regretted going with the ecoboost.

So, you get better exhaust sound and a little more power. What else for $13,535?
Larger brakes are standard. Mine does not have performance pack but still came with brembos in the front. More aggressive front fascia design, GT badging at the rear, and bragging rights over the ecoboost drivers :like:
What about better chassis tuning,
Better suspension
Better differential
Better cooling
Hood vent
Wider wheels and tires and more grip
Better in corners on the track

There is lots more. He knows that. And I don't have any issues with Ecoboosts at all. But I dislike the dishonesty of some Ecoboosts owners, because they want to make the GT look bad for what it's worth, just because they don't have a GT and try psychological tacticts to trick their own mind to accept that they have an Ecoboost.

Again, I'm.not bashing the Ecoboost at all. I like the car and I was also thinking about having one a few years before. I just don't like some ecoboost owners who try to defend their choice by making it look like the difference is not that big just to feel better.

Not much. Remember, brand new the difference is $13,535! It's all in what you like. I may get another GT in the future if I can find one with Magnaride. I'd buy used though. $50,000+ is a whole lot of money for a new car. People here that make good money I guess it's not an issue. I need to take a test ride in a Magnaride Mustang and see if it's smooth enough for my old age!

I didn't knew the difference between an Ecoboost and the GT is just the sound.
Damn, I'm going to return my GT back to Ford, I got scammed I guess.
Well, all I was really saying is that I no longer NEEDED the nearly 500 HP GT, and originally thought that EB HP would be enough for me now……and probably would have been if I could have put up with the sounds they made…..OK?….hope you can understand this and not continue to make fun of people here…..

I like all Mustangs. Especially the old 1971-73 Mustangs. The Mustang Grande! I think you are wrong about better chassis tuning & suspension. Unless you buy Magnaride.

FWIW, I got mine for 7k below MSRP. Sticker price for mine was 54K and I got it for 47K. I would not have been able to get a similarly equipped ecoboost for 13K less than that.
