Not software related but recall related. I had an '07 GT that had a recall. The car was totaled in a wreck in 2011. I still get letters saying I need to take the car into the dealer. Ford will hunt us down, at least that's my experience and I did call them to say the car no longer exists. They want it at a dealer to stop trying to contact me. Oh well.

Concerning software updates, my FordPass app and the car says the car is up to date with software. FWIW.
My 06 GT had several recalls, mostly the driver and passenger airbags. Both were replaced twice. %$#@!! Takata 🤬

Yeah my bad…you’re right, the app alone doesn’t show software update history…here’s what you do….

Go to Ford.com and log in with your email/password or VIN.

Scroll down to the Support Topics section.

Select “Software Updates”

Scroll down until you can click on “Check Update History”

I got this…

Aha! Got it. Thanks! I get the same thing as you did. Which makes sense given you're a 2025 model as well. Well, we both have the updates set correctly, apparently!

Had the same with my 06... though I never drove it after the second airbag was replaced... I fell in love with a new S550 on the lot while at the dealer, and made an impulse buy right then!

Disconnect the negative cable from your 12v battery for 20 minutes. Reconnect it and check for updates again. It should make it past the spinning pinwheel screen now. This happens because the GWM and/or the TCU get hung up in a funky state and disconnecting power for 20 minutes will force a hard reset of all the modules including those. A simple reboot with FORScan won't fix it.
How severe of a reset would you say is the result? Reestablish hardware synchronicity or reset to a relearn state? As in will the ‘learned’ state be also reset, almost akin to a factory reset or more along the lines of power off power on restart when reboot doesn’t do?

Usually reconnecting the battery restarts any adaptive memory, like driving style, and shifting points.

I’d also be curious what any other factors get reset. Are radio presets gone, driving preferences, etc.? My guess all these preferences are stored in the Ford Sync cloud and reloaded?

My 2025 was also an impulse buy. Ford Employee pricing sucked me in. I was about to put new tires/ hoses/ belts on my 06 and figured if I do buy new, don’t do it after dumping $1,600 in the old. Saw the silver, test drove it, and it was Game Over…lol.

No learned values will be wiped.

Thx, will give it a shot, just kinda chills the vibe when you find a reason to distrust the machine. It is what it is and i comprehend that, just ‘wish’ (hence that’s why they are called that) it wasn’t so. Hard to make sure it’s updated when the update mechanism fails.

We don't know what causes this, but it started happening after a GWM update some months ago. Nothing bad will happen from the battery disconnect.. As a matter of fact, I installed one of these on my truck so I can disconnect the battery with just the push of a button:

I have an Naviks HDMI interface module on my APIM that gets locked up all the time and the only way to get it working again is to disconnect the battery. That is the reason I got the battery kill switch and not for this particular issue. However, if this were to happen to me, it would be very easy for me to fix without any hand tools.

Wish I knew this part before I moved to Europe. Now let's see if I can find it here.

The battery disconnect device? I don't see why that would be difficult to obtain across the pond.

Thank you for this. I did as you said and as soon as I started the car, it connected right up and the update settings came right back. That is what I like about the forums, people here have more knowledge then the dealers/tech departments and give out better solutions, and we try to look out for each other....

You’re not kidding. On my previous 06 GT I had a Check Engine Light. Code said Bad Cam Sensor. I replaced the cam sensor (easy job) myself twice and light kept coming on. I scoured forums until I found out a bad alternator diode will send the same code. So bough a rebuilt alt. gave it to my mechanic to replace, and told him don’t worry, I did all the research…all he had to do was just replace it.

It was forums that saved me a ton of money, time and aggravation chasing a false OBD code.

The sad part is, Ford knows about this issue for months at this point and they have yet to release a bulletin to dealers about this until they can figure out what causes it and send out a fix.

When I looked up recalls, there was also a recall for an issue where the trans won’t shift into reverse. But what models or build dates they affect is a mystery.
