The title of my post is an old Three Stooges line, but it describes my ordering process with my incoming GT. Back in October, I placed an order for a 2025 GT, Grabber Blue, manual (of course), Performance Package, Magneride, and such. I ordered then, figuring that it would be 5-6 months to get it.
I was fine with the timeline. Truthfully, I didn't want to see it till March or April. Moreover, I store my BMW 340 December-February, and take it off insurance, other than comprehensive (God forbid that my garage burns down).

I received a call today from the dealer (Central PA), informing me that the car was at the dealer. Just three months!

Given the horrible January weather here, I'm going to try to put them off a few weeks for delivery, in hopes of a day that is at least above freezing. Both the Bimmer and the GT wear summer tires.

Go figure! Anyone else have a similar surprise?

I would personally find transport or drive it home and clean it up on a day you can than leaving it there, but nice surprise none the less!

I didn't even bother to try track it, since I figured that would be spring until I had it. The three months from order to delivery still has my head spinning. I don't want to drive it during winter weather. I will figure this out. I do believe that I will hop into my Honda Civic tomorrow, and drive the hour to the dealer, just to see it.

Oh , BTW, what is the website for the frame rail patch, front fender-wise? I recently had my computer cleaned up, and I lost that bookmark. Thanks!!

@HeyMoe! ..... If you have fully paid for it and have the title you could leave it at the dealer's without fear of them selling it. BUT - you had better check to see if you have insurance for it because once you have the title unless it is in for service - or - you have a signed agreement for them to store it under their insurance you would have no coverage. Years ago that happened to a friend of mine. His car was hit while parked on the lot ($5,000.00) dealership would not pay. BTW will the dealership charge you a storage fee. My advice is to pay for it to be put on a flatbed to your door.....cheap and safe...... and YES visit Diyvan.com to get those patches installed before you drive it.

I wouldn't leave it at the dealer to get banged up.

Drive it. It's not a Porsche although I did see one on a slush coved and salted road.

Way back when, I ordered a '98 Mustang Cobra that arrived in January. I had it flat bedded home from the dealership because of all the salt they put on the roads here. Put it right in our garage and didn't drive it until April.

What Fran said! Dealerships routinely have a number of employees move a lot of cars around a lot for a lot (detecting a trend yet?) of reasons. Any combination of which "could" lead to damage to YOUR Mustang. Good luck!

With the slow sales of the Mustang I actually think people are going to get more surprises like this lol.

But yeah I won`t want it sitting at the dealership. They will probably throw it in back somewhere.

I had a similar "surprise"... the wife requested I wait to order until after we moved into our new house in 2.5 months. I asked the dealer how long it would take, he said 3 - 4 months, and I figured maybe longer since I was ordering summer of 23. As it worked out, the car arrived on moving day! My wife was not too happy to say the least. I had to pick it up that day, as the dealer didn't want it sitting around for all of the staff to drool on it (was the first S650 for the dealer). I had to take a couple hours off of moving to pick it up. I was in the doghouse that day...

End story--I put the dealer off last week about delivery, as the temps here in central PA never got above 20 degrees. I looked at the weather forecast, and picked tomorrow (1/28). It was supposed to be dry, and in the 30s. Now, there are a few snow squalls forecast overnight. We will see; I'm not driving the BMW 40 miles, and bringing the Mustang home, in bad weather. I guess I will go day by day, and grab it on the next half-way decent day. It's been a perfect storm; I wasn't expecting to see the car until March/April, and I was OK with that. Moreover, January has been a rotten weather month where I live. My insurance agent graciously put the "transaction" on insurance for me to make the swap. Once I get the Mustang home, it goes in the garage until March. Though, I would rather have it with me than elsewhere. Going to tape up the frame rail holes with flex tape to get it home. The DIY kit is on order. Later, I have a friend with a garage lift who is going to help me install the kit. I can't fault the dealer; I'm getting X-plan pricing, and the trade-in on the BMW is the same as the BMW dealer offered me last fall on trading for an M2 (of course, no discount from MSRP on the M2). Someday, the weather will turn around, and I will enjoy driving it.

You could have had a covered hauler bring it to your house. It's only 40 miles it shouldn't cost much.

I agree. :like: I had had one of my Z06's brought home by my dealer in an enclosed trailer. It was another January delivery. The dealership is about 10 miles from our house. Even if was further and I had to pay for it, it beats getting salt on a brand-new car. There's so much on the roads here that it looks like you're driving a gravel road with all the salt dust.
