Like everyone else it is a crazy story but you tend to go the distance when it's something you have waited for..... the journey originally started back in 2021 when I thought the V8 muscle cars were going the way of the dinosaurs....ordered a manual silver gt, which I was going to drive to Shelby in Melbourne and get converted including supercharger and pretty blue stripes.....2 weeks later it was announced 1 final hurrah, so took a gamble and cancelled order.Hello my fellow Mustang owners and the ones anxiously waiting,
I have a question for everyone;
- When did you guys order your cars?
- How long did it take you to get it?
Order date: Jan 7th 2023
Estimated Delivery End of Nov 2024
Fast forward to sept 2022 a couple days after release and I am now frantically ringing around dealers in Qld trying to secure a DH and did, a carbonised grey tremic, and even had a build number with Oct 17th 2023 build date..... then got the heart breaking news in Oct 2023, that I no longer had an allocation, as numbers were bumped to 1000, so I settled with a silver Recaro and magnaride and put car in line for works at Shelby......then had to hide super snake pricing email from the minister for war and finance.
After a lot of phone calls and emails, and always letting salesman know that if a DH come up, I would take it, I got a build date of Sept 7 2024 for the GT.
Fast forward to late July 2024, and I received an out of the blue text message from salesman saying he didn't work at dealership anymore, but knew of a broker wanting to offload his allocation in Melbourne, and August 30, I was the proud owner of a blue ember tremic Dark Horse I nick named Night Mare...the original dealership was understanding and gave back my deposit, and were going to keep the gt that was about to be made.
It was still another month before I saw the car in person due to transport/ppf/rosters....and even on the flight to Brisbane I was not excited because of all that had happened, I was waiting for that one last twist in the saga...........it's not a Shelby but it will get boosted

Having it home in November meant it could be my daughter's graduation car and was blessed to be her chauffeur for the evening, would not think there were many other kids that had an opportunity to have a DH for grad.....and she picked a dress to colour match to car(have pics, not had the chance to put up yet as life happens and am a grandad now this week too)..... proud Dad moment, the last to finish school.
I am also fortunate enough to have dodged the recall, as car was built prior to 10th May 2024, and it just sucks to hear what is happening and everyone being so close but the wait goes on, but I do feel the pain, and I pinch myself everyday when I walk through the carport and it is there.
For those waiting, they are worth the wait, the grin is always ear to ear when I take it for a drive
