if you have hp tuners its not
just make sure to set it to no error reported for all the cat codes before you take them off and the test will always pass

not that i would have ever done that🤣

the only place this does not work is CA and maybe MA

as they check the ecu checksum

all other states if your readiness monitors are all good and no codes you are good
works for me in PA and NY

In metro Atlanta, a visual check for the presence of catalytic converters is required, and they send undercover inspectors around to make sure that the business owners are ensuring it is done. If they catch them not conducting the visual confirmation, they will pull their license, and now the money the invested in the testing equipment and lease is lost.

Kinda difficult to be an optional experience when stood up on highway exit ramps.
Its a way to get your inspection you don't have to do it that way
And if you are not doing your inspection that way there is no consequence

Hollow cat looking things are a thing
Just hope they don't do the hammer test like they do in ny

You said no sniff test for post ‘96 vehicles, i shared a current example of an on-road test currently used. Speed cameras were optional at one time as well, just takes an updated regulation and then it becomes the way, since it (rapidpass) also takes a picture of the vehicle in question.

Ok no mandatory sniff tests are needed
If they update the law and use those coast by with your engine off

Any idea what boost and pulley size would avoid overheating for 25-30 minutes on a track?
no clue, I don’t even do back to back pulls in my car, honestly for road/track I’d go straight to a GT350R or something light/stout/NA.. maybe C6Z06

Ugh! To hell with any state that enforces emissions. I'd move.
It is not the state. It is mandated by the federal government for areas with dirty emissions. For example, I am in the Atlanta area, and here we have 13 counties that require testing because of the nasty air in Atlanta.

Detroit used to test, but the air got cleaner, so they no longer have to do it. I imagine it was because of industry moving away and less cars and factories, but, nevertheless.

(Sometimes it is the state, e.g., California)

Honestly, if I was going to do autocross I'd ditch the Whipple. It's just an oven sitting on top of another oven.
I doubt you can even really get on the power at all. Better to just strip weight wherever.

Whipples on the highway though? Bwoah. Pulls for days
