They HAVE to ditch the MT-82 this time around, right?

Didn't know that. I can't imagine mine in 20deg or 10 or zero degree weather.

I double cluch it, like an old truck and it shifts. I bet some good fluid would help.

Too lazy.
I didn't see before that you have a 2014. Yes the pre-2015 MT-82s don't shift as smoothly. I owned a couple 2011 Mustangs and that older version wasn't as good. Ford said at the time that they made significant changes to improve the shifts in 2015. And I agree that the 2015+ shifts were much improved. I previously owned a 2015 GT and drove it year round. It worked great all the time. My 2017 I currently own also shifts really well, but I've only driven it in relatively warm temperatures. And I would say that the Tremec is definitely better than the older MT-82.

I for one am very happy with my MT82D4 other than the ratios. I would love to think the S650 would get the Tremec as long as it had the same ratios as it has with the S550 M1. If it has the same ratios as the D4 than whats the point.

my guess the Eco gets D4, the GT too. EB+HPP and GP/PP1 gets the Tremec

The Tremecs in GT350s had really tall gears. I would hope that Ford would put different gears in it - more like the pre-2018 MT-82. Maybe the Tremecs in the Mach 1 have different gearing, but I don't think so.

I'm now curious, how does the Mach 1 gearing compare to the GT350?

Edit: Looked into it a bit, from what I see online, they use identical ratios.

Actually those ratios are fine as the car has a 3.73:1 gearing. The issue with the D4 is the 4th gear at 1:1.

Ratios for the D4

1st. 3.24:1 2nd 2.10 3rd 1.42 4th 1.00 5th .81 6th .62

As you can see every gear is less aggressive than the Tremec. A set of 4.09 gears would go a long way in alleviating this.

First and second are the gears that you want to have steeper for daily driving and having fun on the street. With a 3.25 first gear and 3.73 rear gears, the GT350 topped out at over 50 mph in first gear, which is terrible. One shift and you're done on the street. No more accelerating through the gears.

The MT-82 in Mustang GTs prior to 2018 have a 3.66 first gear ratio, which is much more fun with 3.73 rear gears on the street.

My '21 EB has 3.31 rears and doing 70mph at 2000 RPM is just !wrong!.
so I threw the above numbers into a handy spreadsheet trying to recall how I previously observed my '19 EB/PP1 with 3.55 behaved.

Hmm, I would need 3.73 rear-end to get something resembling the '17 v8 which I've driven (M6G member car) and really liked. I also thrashed another M6G's '16 EB for 30 minutes and it was a bundle of kittens.

Hmm I guess I now need to add a 3.73 diff to my shopping list.

Why the desire for the TR3160? It won't hold the power the MT82 holds. Yes, I said what I said. Neither are great transmissions, but the MT82 holds the power better and at higher rpm.

Stangmode repeated again in his latest video that the S650 will get the Mach 1's Tremec.........but I've not heard this anywhere else.

I wouldn't be surprised though.

Be nice if the 10-speed also got the revised tuning from the Mach 1, too.
It won't happen, but I rather ford ditch the 10r80 for a ZF8.

Thats an awesome graphic...thanks. It just reinforces my thought that a set of 4.09 gears will do wonderful for us MT82D4 owners.

The Tremec appears to be standard in the GT performance and definitely in the Dark Horse. Not sure about the regular GT. A completely revised Getrag may be used in the standard GT. The 10R80 is recalibrated similar to the Mach 1 in the GT performance and Dark Horse. Not sure about the standard GT.

Unless I am missing some fine print, or some other blurb from somewhere, Tremec is specific to dark horse trim only.
