This German company sells different programming mods that they do with Forscan. Most of the things I know myself, but they offer Light Switch Memory Function.
This is something I was searching for a long time but could not find it in the spreadsheet.

When I'm parked in my garage and I start the ignition, the headlights automatically go on, because it's dark in the garage and the Mustang always starts on Auto Lights.
This is something I dislike, since all my other cars always start from the last headlight setting I turned off the ignition.
I don't want my headlights turn on without me turning them on.

What I want is that when I turn on the ignition, the headlight switch will be set on OFF.

Anybody know the Forscan codes to get this done? They ask 90 Euro (100 USD) to program this and they are a little bit too far away (Germany).

Now this website offers this exact feature. On their website they say the following:

Headlight Switch Memory Function: Stay in Control After Every Ignition
Discover the advanced programming of the headlight switch memory function for your vehicle. This smart feature remembers your last light setting and automatically restores it after each ignition cycle. Whether you're heading out for a night hunt or on a discreet surveillance job – you’ll appreciate the comfort and reliability it provides.

Your benefits with the memory function:
  • Easy to use: No need to reset your lights after each start – your vehicle remembers your last setting.
  • Great for special missions: Especially helpful during hunting or surveillance, where consistent lighting can be crucial.
  • Time-saving: Your preferred setup stays active without effort – no more fiddling with the switch.
  • Improved safety: Prevent unexpected lighting changes when starting the vehicle.
Common use cases:
  • Hunting: Keep your lighting configuration steady during night rides in the hunting area.
  • Surveillance: For discreet situations, your light settings stay exactly how you need them – reliably and unnoticed.

That would be pretty nice if I could program that on mine. Don't like that my headlights are always in auto/on. If you find out anything else please post..

You can disable the auto headlight function. The knob is right there on the left.

There are also greeting and start-up settings in the stock menu.

Off the top of my head I don’t know if any of those settings change headlights coming on during start-up. They should, but I’d need to verify and start the car myself with auto function off and see what happens.

No, you missed the point I was making.

Ofcourse you can disable the lights from the light switch, but that's not what I tried to say.

In my case, my car is inside the garage.
The car alsways starts on "auto headlights".
In my case, the garage is dark, so the car thinks it should turn on the headlights.
When driving out of the garage, the headlights automatically turn off again.

You can't bypass the auto headlights and you cant start the car with the lights turned off, untill the auto headlights, chose to turn on.

But I already got a fix from another thread thanks to @System

In the BCM, there is a line that you can change, to keep the headlight on the setting you desire.

I will update my answer with the correct line of I have the time to find it again.

So, I’ve only done the constant gear display in Forscan. Can you give me a little more instruction in making this change. Just tell me exactly where and the line before and after.
I dislike them always coming on in automatic mode also. Thanks!

It's exactly the line you quoted.

Go to line 726-74-01 and change the 4th character. It should have 0 from the factory and you should change it to 1, just like shown in the adress.

OK, I see...So you are trying to modify the auto headlight function itself.

Not modifying the auto function.
It gives the car some brains to remember the last setting. So, when starting the car up, it will go to the last setting.

I just did my update. It actually came up in the easy mode so just picked the option for the last setting. Works great. So much better when car in garage and you don’t want the headlights coming on. Again, thanks.

Wow really. Didn't even know it was on easy mode. But normally I never use easy mode.
