Texas insurance rates will increase at a rate equivalent to the rate of Californians escaping to Texas.:cwl::cwl:

"Blaming the kids"? Blaming them for WHAT?

"Boomers" who can't retire have nothing to do with kids who are impatient and want instant gratification. Your comment is akin to comparing apples and windshield wipers.
Remind me who is responsible for teaching their children patience and how to properly manage their money? It wouldn't hapend to be the older generation who lacks patience with theirkids so throws them at the TV or are irresponsible enough with their own money that they can't even retire, would it?

I too hate having to spend extra to be able to properly protect a new car. I try to find a middle ground.

- Dashcam (great if they came integrated, but would end up quickly outdated like car audio systems)
- Rock guards
- PPF over headlights to slow hazing
- Turtle Wax Ceramic Wet Wax (spray on after washing car, easy lazy ceramic)
- No tint but need it dearly. All windows should come with UV-A/UV-B blocking from the factory, not just the windshield

It's unavoidable though. Just like buying a new house--usually still need to do the backyard, window coverings, etc.

I'm not quite Gen Z but look young and associate mostly with Zoomers. There is definitely extreme inter-generational hatred towards Boomers. Fair or not is debatable, but young'uns as a whole are definitely struggling economically, professionally, socially. I feel bad since many of them have not had positive index experiences and good memories when things weren't so bad, so all they've known is chaos and misery. Can't even blame them for all being depressed and anxious etc.

My insurance quote was a small shock, but it's also irritating to pay so much knowing I can only drive one vehicle at a time. While I am cautious about money, I don't plan on leaving a lot for my heirs. I spent my life building my future and doing practical things. Just so I could get to a point of enjoying retirement. The thing I hate is that in order to keep my credit rating high, I have to take out an occasional loan.

I go cross country to enjoy my interests, cars, planes and history. I learned that interstates hate car paint. Through experience, I know that ceramic coatings do not do enough. Even PPF is limited protection. A stretch bra keeps things out of the air intake and adds protection to vulnerable areas. Maybe not very pretty, but I am more concerned about taking care of my car.
I don't get the driving 1 vehicle at a time.
Why do you want to drive 2 vehicles at the same time?

While I didn't necessarily party my ass off, I did enjoy my time as a young adult. But I was also responsible, built a career, and saved and invested as well. No help from anyone, mind you. Today, many of those my age who "partied their asses off" struggle to pay their rent, put food on the table and gas in their cars, and will likely never be able to retire comfortably.

Perhaps they should have made more prudent life choices when they were young instead of "wasting their youth and time" ... :like:
I retired at 45 and don’t have a problem filling my gas tanks

Heads up on the novistretch bra.
It absorbs a lot of grit and then retains it against your paint.
You have to clean it after basically every trip or it will rub wierd spots into your paint.

I have to say that, looks aside, I wouldn't recommend one.

Have you ever looked at how much insurance really costs us? With five cars covered and only myself driving, it is ridiculous how much I pay per minute of driving. I keep trying to cut back on coverage, but the only legal way to do so, is to park some of my cars. Since I use my vehicles for different needs, not really an option. IMHO, I think in a fair world, the insurance would be mainly on the driver and covers every car they drive.

Also, I have used the Novistretch bra and it is only used on long trips and gets washed after each use. My only complaint is when I bought a new one, and it got holed twice on the first trip by something bigger than a quarter. Mixed feeling about that, but no damage to the car.

Your car is not only insured when it's driven.
The car is also insured when it's parked.

Ugh what a waste of youth and time.
At 19 I already had an 87 Mustang GT, at 21 I had new loaded F150 and by 29 a Mustang, Vette, a new Harley, an Expedition, and a house.
I just went to work and partied my ass off.
Wouldn't call it a waste of youth and time. Did my share of partying till it became necessary to grow up and be a responsible adult. After retiring from 40 years of federal service, I'm now living a relaxed life., didn't miss a thing. You appear to have done well for yourself, congrats.
