As I have always done, I have been putting together all of the additions I plan on doing to my new Mustang when it comes in. Its scary enough to be paying between $50-60,000 for a new car, but after you get it, it is a shock to find out how much cash you need to spend.

* Oklahoma collects sales and excise tax when you get you tags: $2500
* Basic PPF treatment: $2-4,000
* Ceramic coating: $600-1500
* Insurance:
* Misc upgrades, like a Novistretch bra, dash camera, louvers, floor and trunk mats.

You can wind up spending $10,000 in addition to the cost of the car, before you have your first oil change. And this is on a car that is going to be a daily driver. It would be hard for most young buyers to justify buying any new car, especially a Mustang.

Our first new car was an 85 mustang 4 banger, stick, no thrills. Was 30 years old with 9 years military under my belt. Kids today want things NOW and need to learn, it takes time and patience.

After my experience with taking my 19 on the road when I first bought it, the PPF and ceramic are essentials Most of the non-essentials will probably wait until winter for me to install. The dash cam was highly recommended by my insurance agent and I am trying to negotiate a better rate.

My first new car was a 72 Comet GT ($3000). I had saved my combat pay and used it for 1/3 down, paid another 1/3 over the remainder of my time in, then used my unused leave pay when I was discharged to pay the rest. Things were simpler back then.

YOLO. Why buy a special (to you) car you care about and cheap out on making it look nicer and last longer? If you think you don't need any of that shit then just put 87 octane in it and use cheap oil too. Also front PPF isn't that expensive.

I personally think PPF and ceramic is a must to protect your vehicles longevity. I've gotten top dollar on my trades and private sales because of it. Its worth the investment in the long run. Not to mention your cars paint looks like a show car for years at a time. People who say they don't need that shit also still drive through car washes and use ArmorAll.

So I agree with all of that except the bra. You not only don't need that shit, but you will be made fun of by every car guy on the road and at car shows. šŸ˜† And louvers are so 10 years ago. šŸ˜‰

Why can’t cameras be built into the car - integrated wiring and all?
can’t be hard. Already have reverse cameras and speed sign recognition

First off, I do not decide on how what I do to my cars based on the vagaries of fashion. I like the look of quarter window scoops and aluminum rear window louvers is the only practical way to counter the greenhouse effect of the rear glass. The car shows i go to are full of bras to protect the cars on the road. Most would use a Novistretch bra if they made one for their Mustangs. It is hell getting the bugs removed from the grill and radiator. And it only takes seconds to remove.

What other new car can you buy between 50 and $60,000 that has a V8 manual transmission and is a ton of fun to drive. I looked. I couldn’t find any.
