Of course, but in this case, from a design integration standpoint, the tacked on screens aren’t good design. They could make a big glass curved screen and integrate in a way with a tasteful design language. But they didn’t.
Not like the dash layout on the Camaro is anything to look at. It's terrible IMO

It could be better. But at least it feels like sitting in a sports car instead of what could also pass for gray scale SUV interior.

Car genres aren't defined by their interiors

I didn’t say that—your statement is too “all or nothing”. Interiors definitely play a part in how a car feels to the driver. Vibe, feel, whatever you want to call it. There’s a reason Corvette interiors don’t look like a Silverado.

And the mustang doesn't look like the explorer. Doesn't even look like the mach e.

Indont want them mounted in my line of sight. I want them out of the way so they don't distract or interfere with the task of driving. There is nothing inside the car that needs paying attention to when you're rolling except speed, which if you're payi g attention is more than discernable from rpm as gleaned from listening to the engine and the shift selector. Or observing fellow traffic out the bloomin window.

And designers keep doing it because they are as creative as monkey see, monkey do. Unfortunately people keep buying cars with the tablets because they refuse to simply not buy. They don't make it an iron clad refuse to buy criteria and just go along with it. So now the entire world is festooned with this abomination.

It's probably cost related. This is a trend that became probably popular with Tesla, and those cars are cheaply made (specially the early MYs).

In a world where people are glued to their phone screens I can see why. Plus when (not if) they go bad, pop it off put on a new one.
I personally like the look, like most things, it is subjective. People are creatures of habit and don't like radical changes. I'm sure in time, some of us will look back and think, how did we live without this.

People are allowed to buy what they want so long as tradition is maintained as an option. How many people would pay a rider of $3000 or more for gratuitous tech if it wasn't included in the price? Probably 30% or less. People don't want tech, they were force fed it. Who wants a CVT? Basically nobody, but people are force fed it.

The only reason Tesla has it is because they are a software company pretending to be an auto manufacturer. And everyone copied them because some fauning fool associated them with hip, happen'n and tech Gaga.

Software people look at the tablet as offering infinite updates, infinite customized experience and think surely the consumer who you may recall can't program a VCR or use even 4% of the nonsense that comes on the phone is likewise going to be orgasmic over their sick, nerdly tech porn.

If the UI is done wrong, no problem just push an update. Heaven forbid you actually hire a human factors engineer or learn from a 100 years of history All the while forget it's a f'ing car and that 4 million backlight color palette is 4 million too many. And no, dancing icons and swipe swipe swipe is not an acceptable interface except if you're staring at a screen for minutes on end to the exclusion of everything else.

Software people are incredibly BAD at ui, reliability and prevention of feature creep. They should be locked behind doors, pizza and warm cola slipped under the door and never heard from.

Not sure we need another one of these threads.

There are more people then you think who can appreciate the UI and information that can get relayed through the screens. I dont really need the screen wrapped in the leather. If you want a luxury interior, go buy a luxury car.

I like the screens. Don't plan on riding in the passenger seat and sure don't plan on being a photographer of mustang interiors.

No one's stopping you from buying a gen 1. Belittling people for liking different things than you is not a good look my guy.
