Suspension change for new supercharger?

I’m adding a whipple supercharger to my S650 and I have concerns about my suspension. I just have the standard GT suspension and I am concerned about it handling the extra weight and power. Can the stock suspension handle it? Do I definitely need to upgrade or is it just worth doing but not needed?

if I upgrade what would people suggest? Keep in mind I don’t want to spend a ton of money since the whipple bruised my wallet enough. Hopefully I can make some progress for $2k or less.

Will you be tracking the car? Would you say you like driving fast through twisty roads? If not and your mostly a straight line drag type driver you should be just fine. For 2k or less my guess is you cant do much unless you do it yourself. This is all subjective mind you but I'd say this would be a good bet. Others much smarter than me will have some good advice. No track, but plenty of winding mountain roads. We can easily install any suspension parts we upgrade. My son is in school for his ASE certification and I was raised poor.

Then I would definitely look to invest in suspension upgrades ect. Also if you have a manual tranny and now with the Whipple the "stop the hop kit" or suspension lockout kit would be good idea. Even with an auto trans with forced induction the lockout kits are great choice. Im sure other members will chime in with some other good ideas for you. Im jealous wish I could get forced induction for mine. Just not in the cards now and I want to get the ESS kit but I'm in California and Goodluck finding a way to even get one here. Sucks ass sometimes living here.

I think the only mandatory upgrade is the half shaft i have seen a few videos with people having them break

I wouldn’t worry about the weight, I did rear cradle bushings and the locating dowels to tie in the rear IRS to the body, I also did a GT350 driver side half shaft, that’s the major weakness link.

and fwiw, get the cats off before there’s a problem. No cats and no warranty is a lot safer than boosted with stock/hi flow cats

I agree with Q6543 definitely get cats designed for boosted applications.

For me in this order after installing supercharger
Day 1 - Better tires - at least 200 TW or softer
Day 1 - Half shafts - at least GT350 units
Day 1 - Steeda stop the hop kit - the $650 package should be fine
Day 1 - Catch cans

Some time soon if you don’t like the handling
Lowering springs
Single piece drive shaft and loop

If you drive the car hard for extended periods of time like canyon driving you will melt or damage the catalytic converters. Guaranteed. It may not happen the first time but plenty of info out there about damaging them. One kid blew his motor at the drag strip because of melted cats on the Whipple tune. So replace them with higher rated units or get rid of them if you can.

If they sat over my front axel while I was driving on a winding road I would.

I will say, get the Steeda stop the hop kit. That helps so much more than people think. As for the rest, look into it as needed. Power levels of your applications will dictate that more than anything else.
