Anyone have thoughts/feels on using the stage 2 whipple tune with the stage 1->2 upgrade kit, versus going with a tune from say PBD or Wengerd?

Upgrade parts look like: 112mm TB, 3.75 6 rib griptec pulley (might not need griptec for my application), CF intake tube, lethal/kooks 1.75" headers and offroad pipes.

No need for cats here. Mostly doing highway pulls in mexico or drag strip, then lots of cruising or stop n go traffic.

Fuel is 93/94 octane 99.995% of the time.

If I get the whipple stage 1-2 kit I dont' have to pay extra money for a tune and RTD flashing device since I can use my tomahawk. and that saves me like $1100.

Mods so far are stage 1 whipple, stop the hop kit, and Nitto 555G2's

I went to an L2 of the Whipple setup. I used a custom tune from Shoemaker Performance. I have the 112mm and the 3.75 pulley. I used a CF Y intake from VMP.

I had to use an RTD custom tune because the Whipple Tomahawk was lost. Dealing with the people involved has not gotten anywhere, so I used the custom tune. What is interesting is that Shoemaker explained to me that they edit the Whipple tune and adjust from there, but they HAVE TO USE the Whipple original calibration.

So, an issue I am having is that when cruising in 5th, my TB is fluttering and not finding the correct position angle. This causes a wrench sometimes, but a soft wrench. From what I have been told, the V2 version of the Whipple OS needs to be used to correct my issue. I should hear back today about more of this.

That said, the Whipple v2 tune is pretty good from what I understand; the tuners adjust that file to get more out of it. Now I am not sure if ALL tuners do that, but that is how it was explained to me.

You cant use your tomahawk with an aftermarket tune/tuner. And no tuner can tune the s650 whipple without the whipple tune file as a base since they use a proprietary operating system that deletes the second throttle body.

So you either need to do the whipple tune and stick with it or you will still need the RTD4 and tuning for a custom tune. This was not the case with the gen3 cars.

And YES there is quite a lot on the table left from the whipple cal. Both engine and trans side. Its worth it if you want to use an E blend or obv you want to do a fuel system and run full E.

What I would recommend is to run the whipple tune until you feel you want more. Then when you want to turn it up, get a tune. Then from there you can pulley down or whatever else you want.
