I found locally a GT premium, 401A, auto, 3:55 gears, active exhaust, and B&O. All the things I want but it is black. I've never owned a black car and scared to spend this much money on a color I might end up hating. Any consolation ?

you'll get to spend a lot of time with it.....washing and dusting it. Looks super good when it's clean though. if you get it, make sure to get a quality ceramic coating to help out

Don't do it lol. Cheaper to drive a few states than have to wrap it or pay for paint corrections every few years

8 of 20 vehicles I’ve owned have been black and 3 of the current 5 are black.
#BlackMustangsMatter

upkeep is a bit more intensive than lighter colors but it’s nowhere near a Harley Davidson decked out with chrome.

Depending on why you want the car, black and white have absolutely zero contribution to resale, or “collectability”. So all things being equal, if you’re just going to drive it, then go for it.

I had a black 1977 Trans Am and a black 1996 Mercedes. It's difficult to beat the looks of a black car when it's clean, but as someone else mentioned, they require more care. Personally, I'd never own another one.

Agreed with everything above.

I've owned some black cars over the years and there is a reason songs are written about black cars (and also black cars look better in the shade). My black AMG C63 was one of the sexiest machines I've owned HOWEVER I spent more time washing it then I did driving it.

If you store indoors (at night and over winter etc) you should be good. But if it's an outdoor machine I would fly a few states over and ride something home that isn't as much of a dust and dirt (and sap and bird poo) magnet.

Every swirl mark, every fingernail from your wife/girlfriend, accidentally bumping your body against it walking through the garage... Unless you love black, don't do it. G/F is on black car #3, I've stopped even caring at this point, won't even think about driving it

Ok, black is out, vapor blue or carbonized gray. Found a vapor but has 5 spoke wheels I don't like. Also found carbonized gray with painted wheels I like.

Well if you have a garage. Like to spend time washing the car. In a place with decent year around weather. I say go for it. But those darker colors take more commitment.

To keep black looking good one must learn proper paint care techniques. If you don't have patience or the time to take care of it be ready to pay someone.

@larietrope you can always change out the rims. If the car has everything you want get it. 2024's are getting thinned out.

With any dark color a California duster or its equivalent will be a must have! As far as fingerprints go, once you have used the duster then use a micro fiber cloth to remove them. Bought my first duster in 1994 when I bought a new Taurus SHO that was dark blue. But if the car gets wet when it has dust on it then it will need to be washed because it will be spotted.

California dusters work great if used properly. Light touch to paint surface to remove pollen and dust. No grinding or pressure. Do not use on hot surface as it may cause streaking from the meadia used in the duster. Best use on a well paint sealed or waxed finish.
