Sure, my point was they aren't just going to magically break because they aren't fully forged vs flow forged.

And it's not like they're carbon wheels which also fail spectacularly and aren't even allowed in a lot of cases, but people are all about those.
A cast wheel "magically" broke at 98mph in the middle of Turn 2 at WSIR without hitting anything.

So yes they fail. Will they simply fracture for no reason? No. But coming apart in a turn under load is a big deal.

Would I use a cast wheel on the street? Yes.

Would I run one even on a rookie track day? No.

All I'm doing is pointing out the differences in how the wheel fails (if it fails). One bends... the other comes apart. Most people don't know that.

Typically, track tires are lighter. For instance, if you are using the max performance summer tire, Michelin Pilot Sport 4S in the Dark Horse rear size, 315/30ZR19, it weighs 29 pounds. If you swap to Hoosier R7 track tire, 295/30ZR19 (which has an 11 inch wide tread), it weighs 4 pounds less, at 25 pounds per tire.

All season tires add another 5-6 pounds, typically, over the summer tire (see, e.g., Michelin Pilot Sport All Season 4 ZP in 325/30ZR19, at 35 pounds)
A lot of weight reduction is tread depth too.

Implied when you said

it's ironic how many bash the crap out of " chinese made "
I think people don't realise that the Chinese companies will make what you ask for. Cheap and nasty? No problem. Well made? As good as you can afford.
I bought quite a few bits for my bike on Ali Express, crash protectors etc, they looked and worked very well.

True, but their metal quality and QC leaves a lot to be desired on the higher end. The real junk is coming out of India and Vietnam right now

And if you want nice shit you go to Taiwan

how does the sve graphite color compare to the oem dark tarnish color?
They are a little darker and gloss vs Satin, but they are close. here is a screen grab from LMRs video about them.

Makes me wonder about my handling package wheels on the Dark Horse, now. I am pretty sure that they are cast, but it seems that they are being used all over on tracks, and with pretty sticky 180 tread wear oe tires.

I'd like to think that wheels in something called the Handling Package, would be up to the job. 🤞

Aggie - do you happen to have a pic or two to share of how those look and what size tires youre running in the rear? is you rig lowered at all?

i am a bit concerned about the stance/appearance in a non lowered car. it seems like most people who swing for aftermarket wheels have also lowered their vehicle which is throwing me off on gauging what tire sizes are going to look best in either a 19 or 20 inch wheel
20x10 - 275/35 R20 up front
20x11 - 305/35 R20 out back
Stock ride height and I suck at taking pictures.

no those are great, thank you so much. really gives gives a good feel for the sizes. I go back and forth on 19 vs 20. cant decide if the great look of 20s is worth the risk of meeting a pot hole lol. 19s are so comfy too

I recently ordered a turn-key ready to install set of wheels, tires mounted and balanced from LMR. I went with SVE DHP1 Wheels Forged Gloss Black w/Nitto Tires - Front 275/35/19 Nitto NT05, Rear 305/35/19 Nitto NT05 (Good grip but short life on the NT05's).

I cannot speak to longevity at this point. The wheels w/tires were well packaged with no damage along the journy. First test drive showed the mounting and balancing was spot on.

Edit add - I chose forged because I do expect to track the car when all mods are complete.

GrabberB ive got my eyes on those as well in the gloss black. theres part of me that wonders how theyre able to sell a forged wheel for so much less than some of these other brands....makes me a tad bit suspicious......almost half the price of apex's products lol

youre loving them though? no qualms?

post some pics on your rig if you get a spare minute, please!

I'll post some pics tomorrow or Sat. at the latest. So far so good and no buyers remorse. I'm not to concerned about wheel failure. The billet aluminum used to make the SVE DHP1 forged wheel is 6061-T6 which to my knowledge is the standard for forged wheels.

Shouldn't wheels be considered socks? Or maybe feet... And the tires are the shoes?

So lookat it this way..
Stock................................. Replacements
Diameter - 27 inches........ 28.4 inches
Sidewall hight - 102 mm....106 75 mm
Even thought my aspect ratio went down I have more sidewall and more ground clearance than stock, not so much that notice, but some.

Don't wait for your mods to be complete. Track it now. Then you get to see whether your mods do anything on the track, and your driving will be better in this car so you will know the difference. Plus you are missing out on a lot of fun in the right here and now.
