A cast wheel "magically" broke at 98mph in the middle of Turn 2 at WSIR without hitting anything.Sure, my point was they aren't just going to magically break because they aren't fully forged vs flow forged.
And it's not like they're carbon wheels which also fail spectacularly and aren't even allowed in a lot of cases, but people are all about those.
So yes they fail. Will they simply fracture for no reason? No. But coming apart in a turn under load is a big deal.
Would I use a cast wheel on the street? Yes.
Would I run one even on a rookie track day? No.
All I'm doing is pointing out the differences in how the wheel fails (if it fails). One bends... the other comes apart. Most people don't know that.
