What are your two favorite chemicals for 1) Waxing (or similar) and 2) Shining that make your Mustang's color "pop and shine" ? Not interested in ceramic coatings at all.

Right now, I'm experimenting with some things. The latest is what I think is mostly a silicone based spray on product made nearby that works very well but doesn't last well. I don't see it as a long term, loyal, "go to product".

Thanks, FD

For a wax it has been several vehicles ago since I now have a ceramic coatings but you can try Collinite No. 845 wax. last long and gives that warm wax glow on certain colors.. I have also used soft 99 but didn’t think it was that great. Griots best in show car wax and their speed shine also are good. I used them 10-12 years ago on my ā€˜86 Mustang but it wasn’t a daily driver so can’t comment on longevity. I have thought about the DIY detail wax but don’t currently have anything to use it on.

Why not ceramics, if I may ask?
I used to use Meguiars, but it seems that's not highly regarded among the seroius detailing crowd.

@LouG, Why not ceramics? I don't have a solid answer, to be truthful. It just doesn't appeal to me.
I just wondered what other people are using that I might like.

Have done my own detailing for close to 40 years, there are so many good products on the market that are so easy to use. I use C6 Mist or DIY Ceramic Gloss as a coating. I don't install the typical ceramic coatings that come in the little bottles as I detail my cars multiple times per year and don't mind re-applying this stuff. Its cheap and works well. As mentioned above, you have a good product if you throw a towel on the hood and it slides off, nice slickness. You want slickness, gloss and good water beading and sheeting out of a product. Meguiars and Turtle Wax make very good products and are cost friendly. If you want to step up, Gyeon, Carpro, DIY, C6, Clean by Pan, Labo Cosmetica, Armour, and many others out there. Pretty much at least once per month someone brings a new brand on the market, so many to choose from. The ones I listed above are the ones I use and they all work well, including Meguiars and Turtle Wax.

C6 and Ceramic gloss are very good products, ADS Amplify is very good also… Currently have the DIY 5/3 stack and use the C6 as a drying aid..

Base Layer Wax or Sealant -

- Collinite 845 (durable, warm gloss) or Wolfgang Deep Gloss Paint Sealant (great for darker colours). Apply either by hand with a foam applicator, or via a soft waxing pad on a dual-action machine. Both exceptionally slick.

Maintenance / Gloss Enhancement / Topper -

- P&S Bead Maker. You won't find a slicker and glossier spray and wipe product on the market. It won't last forever, but who cares, you have the base layer to do that and if used as a post-wash drying aid, it really doesn't matter about longevity. Also, this is a polymer product and not an Si02, that is why it looks and feels the way it does.

- Armour Detail Supply Amplify, ideal for gloss and enhancement. (Si02)

- Meguiar's Hybrid Ceramic Detailer. Seriously, this is one of their best products. Ignore the ceramic part, its just a nice, easy product to use. (Si02 polymer hybrid)

Plus 1 on the Bead Maker. Just remember it can cause a build up if you use it too often. I usually go about two months in between.
