yesterday i did an Autocross event, and after seeing what it did to my tires which i also daily, i realized i need to find track tires sooner than later. i originally wanted to go with the Kumho V720 ACRs because the rears are 355 width and they are supposedly amazing. they're also banned from competition use and that makes me feel like i'm cheating if i use them, plus i dont know how much longer those tires are going to be made before they're discontinued. the only use these track tires will see is ~100 miles round trip to the track and back, plus the event itself, which is about once per month aside from the summer season. they will be stacked in the garage when not used. ideally something that has sizes that can fit an 11" and 12" wide 19" diameter wheel properly. i'm new to this performance driving stuff, so i'm very interested in hearing what you all think would be a good tire. i will continue to daily Pilot Sport 4S

I'm not familar with those Kumho tires... had some other Kumho's years ago that were great. If they are banned from competion, perhaps they may disqualify you for using them? I would go Cup2's to be safe.

Cup 2's if you can afford them.

Did road racing for 12 years and a little autox in the beginning. I've used Cooper Zeon RS3, Toyo Proxes RR, RS1, R1R and then moved into Hoosier R7 and A7. For autox and if you are serious about competing, I'd recommend Toyo Proxes. Aside from buying new, try slightly used (see link below), scrubs, with little heat cycles. Bought from them often for practice tires and would save the new for race days. I ran 275/30-18 till I jumped into Hoosier, then I began running 315/30-18. You have to check the link weekly as JD gets tires in all the time, especially after some major IMSA events.

they're not quite banned, but they are banned from competitions instead of the casual weekend events according to the SCCA

Just go Cup 2’s.

Cup 2s are not offered in a size that will appropriately fit my rear wheels, unfortunately

thank you for all this info. looks like i have to choose between Toyo Proxes R888R in 325/30R19 and 345/30R19 for ~$2300, Toyo Proxes RR in 295/30R19 and 345/30R19 for ~$1500, or Hoosier R7 or A7 in 325/30R19 and 345/30R19 for ~$2500

I had the R888Rs on my M3 and thought they were fantastic. Extremely loud on the highway, but the grip was phenomenal. That car also made 725whp and the rears could hold it no problem. Magical compound.

That's why I saved new tires for race days, they ain't cheap and I could normally get 2-3 race events off a set of tires.

I ran Hoosiers for years. At the time they warmed up faster than any other tire on the market which made them perfect for the short runs in autocross. Tires will shed 1 to 3 seconds off your time.
given what i've seen people say about the R888R and the A7, i think im going to go with the Hoosier A7s. it sounds like the main thing about the R888Rs is they hook up really well but are just alright everywhere else, where the A7s have countless reviews praising their autocross performance. now, i just need to keep a close eye on the weather when going to an event with them

Good choice. Diff between R7 and A7 is the A's warm up quicker, but don't last as long. R7's take a little longer to heat up to optimum (usually an extra lap), but last longer.
