I'm bought new 2024 mustang 2.3 ecobooster in this Feb., and now total mileage is over 10000km.
So I will change tire postion in this week.

For this, I'm wondering TPMS re-learning is needed after changing tire position.
Someone says that it is needed, but someone says that it is not needed.

So, if you know, please let me know which is correct.

Thank you in advance.

The car needs to know that the front tire is now in the back. That’s where the TPMS relearn tool comes in.

Thank you for your kind reply.
I heard that Hyundai and Kia can recognize tire position automatically after changing position, but Ford may not.

Thank you again.

Wow, I had no idea TPMS units had the ability to relearn themselves In some vehicles! I guess I learned something new today. I looked it up, and though not sure how they do it, they have the ability.

I now have to say instead of 100% sure Ford requires a tool I’d have to now say I’m 99% sure…lol.

I’m not sure if you are asking preemptively, or if you have had a problem; I carry 2x spares in the rear of my Raptor, both with TPMS sensors. Usually the 4 rotating tires register with just simple driving- or rotating several times. But, when I bring the bed tires into the rotation, THEY require calibration Because the truck only monitors 4 sensors.

if you are just changing tire position with only 4 tires, the car should pick up the readings on its own within about 1-2 miles or 2-4km.
I have the tool in my truck but haven’t needed it for anything but the bed mounted spares.

As I know, car's computer can recognize each TPMS sensor position automatically after tire rotation like Hyundai or Kia case.
But somebody say that Ford, expecially mustang may not recognize TPMS position, so re-learning TPMS for wheel's new position is needed.

Anyway thank you for your reply.

I had to look it up, and the Raptor does auto adjust for new TPMS locations, but everywhere I looked said the Mustang TPMS needs manual resetting.

I wonder how the auto reset systems know? Proximity sensors calibrated for each wheel location?

Ford has automatic relearn. You do not need a tool. Who ever told you otherwise is incorrect.

Not only will it relearn tire position, but it will also auto relearn if you swap tires with the same TPM sensors (like from another mustang or Ford).

OK I’m confused as hell. Initial web search told me you need a relearn tool…..then I dove deeper after your comment, and Every web search shows a different procedure, from using a relearn tool…to overinflate and drive…..to let air out the tires….. to a hidden button under the steering wheel…….to press the start button 6 times.

What the hell is it??? :headbang:

Does it learn by itself, or is there a procedure you have to do?

I swear…… Googling for answers is goddamn useless sometimes….ummm…most times. I hate giving bad info, and I was sure you needed a relearn tool. Guess I was wrong…..

So…no procedure has to be done at all? Just rotate tires and drive?

Why do they sell relearn tools For 2015+ Mustangs?
