Hi there! So I'm asking pretty much the same question as this guy, but for a Stage 1 Whipple rather than Stage 2. I only got my S650 last week, but with any of my cars, I like to have a plan to work towards. I would only track the car once or twice a year; most of my driving is going apeshit on country roads here in Rensselaer County and making fireworks runs into New Hampshire. For a Stage 1 Whipple though, what mods should I be thinking about for a stable build that can hold up instead of frying a driveshaft, clutch, or worse, internals after a few thousand miles of joyriding?
Things I have already done or will do in near future (next six weeks):
- Does the S650 come with a forged crankshaft like the Gen V LT1? Do I need to worry about forged internals?
- Are there any drop-in pistons and rods?
- Are the tolerances on the block pretty good from the factory? Or should I expect to get it machined?
- If I got the kit from Lethal, are the included injectors up to the job? Fuel pumps, both high and low?
- Would a new driveshaft be *required*?
- Do sparkplugs need to be a degree or two colder?
- Would I need additional cooling, for oil or radiators?
- Assuming Whipple rolls the tune, any reason to think I couldn't poke it with HPTuners when the handcuffs finally come off?
I'll stop there - many thanks to any pioneers who can comment and provide insight!
