Hi there! So I'm asking pretty much the same question as this guy, but for a Stage 1 Whipple rather than Stage 2. I only got my S650 last week, but with any of my cars, I like to have a plan to work towards. I would only track the car once or twice a year; most of my driving is going apeshit on country roads here in Rensselaer County and making fireworks runs into New Hampshire. For a Stage 1 Whipple though, what mods should I be thinking about for a stable build that can hold up instead of frying a driveshaft, clutch, or worse, internals after a few thousand miles of joyriding?

Things I have already done or will do in near future (next six weeks):
  • Roush Intake (yeah, I fell for that shit, womp womp)
  • UPR Catch Cans on Driver and Passenger Side
  • Steeda front and rear sway bars
  • Steeda Stop the Hop Street package
  • Pedders coil-overs with camber plates
  • Apex SM-10s
  • Continental Extreme Contact 285/35R19 up front, 305/30R19 in rear
  • MGW X-Spec Short Shifter
  • BMR Motor Mounts
For the Whipple, I'd be planning on:
  • McLeod RXT Twin-Disc
And so here, ladies and gentlemen, is where the questions arise...

- Does the S650 come with a forged crankshaft like the Gen V LT1? Do I need to worry about forged internals?
- Are there any drop-in pistons and rods?
- Are the tolerances on the block pretty good from the factory? Or should I expect to get it machined?
- If I got the kit from Lethal, are the included injectors up to the job? Fuel pumps, both high and low?
- Would a new driveshaft be *required*?
- Do sparkplugs need to be a degree or two colder?
- Would I need additional cooling, for oil or radiators?
- Assuming Whipple rolls the tune, any reason to think I couldn't poke it with HPTuners when the handcuffs finally come off?

I'll stop there - many thanks to any pioneers who can comment and provide insight!

Go stage 2, you’ll want rear axles upgraded as driver side is likely to snap, Mt82 will be the weak link after that.

Keep your octane up, unleaded race gas if you’re gonna be thrashing it hard back to back, or E30 with a BAP

the kit comes with colder plugs, and no pop n drop piston/rod kits like that.

Warning, if you make the front suspension too stiff you're going to end up with worse traction in the rear than you would have had stock. Also I strongly recommend drag radials.

Stock Coyote will hold way more power and be way more reliable than an LT1

Again, you're stage 1, don't worry about it.

Yes

No

Go 1 heat range colder

- Would I need additional cooling, for oil or radiators?
No

Doubt it.

On suspension, I would have thought just the sway bars without any upgraded bushings would keep things under control. 1.5 inch drop front, 1.75 back or so, and with those 305s? Any reason to think that's not a solid set up? We digress, but that's what forums are for lol.
