Like the title says.. I placed an order on March 7th.. got my confirmation from Ford.. Dealer told me 6 months wait time? I figured mid run it would take MAX 3 months..

Has anyone else told the same thing? How long was your wait time?

Perhaps your dealer does not have many Mustang allocations. Six months seems long.

Since you ordered March 7, it is now the end of March, you have not received notification of a scheduled build week and VIN, it is apparent that your car did not get scheduled in March for May builds. If you get scheduled during the April scheduling (occurs third week of the month or so), you will receive a build week in June and your VIN. Delivery could take 1-4 weeks.

Good luck!

I was told 4-6 months and I ordered it 12/9/25 and it was delivered on 3/9. 3 months exactly on a GT Premium, 401A, PP , active exhaust, MagneRide, Bronze pkg, B&O, red calipers and seat belts. Withinin a few days of ordering, I got a build date and 1 month after the order I got a link to my window sticker.

Oh, and I had a priority code of 19. This is the default. A lower number means an earlier build date.

What did you order exactly?

I ordered base GT with Performance Package, Bronze Package in Adriatic Blue Metallic with a 10speed.

June build date sounds absurd..

I also had a priority 19.. I ordered from Granger.

Surprised that you didn’t make the March scheduling for a May build since ordered from Granger. They’re such a big Mustang dealer they should be able to provide you with better insights on the scheduling.

@theslerg ..... IMO a priority 19 means no rush at all. It almost says I don't care when I get it. Now - that said - sometimes the very initial number by the dealer is marked 19 (at the dealership) until the purchaser makes a committent then the dealer changes it immediately to a MUCH lower number and places the order number with Ford. Did your dealer's order person forget to re-number your order before formally placing your order in the Ford queue? I got an initial priority order of 19. I called the dealer and said "What the Hell?" They said "don't worry, we will re-prioritize it before we place it." A day later I got a priority up-date of 3 rating from my dealer which means do it now. Also, my dealer presently has 19 Mustangs for sale and therefore also has a high dealer allocation. Long Mcarthur Ford has made hundreds of videos on ordering Ford products and has some excellent ones about ordering Ford Mustangs - explaining exactly what the numbers mean and how different times of the year affect orders.

Ford has a general idea of how many of what vehicle they can build at any given time. If they can build 500 in one cycle, they'll have a pool of 500 allocations available to all dealers. The allocation system ensures every dealer has a chance to order at least one vehicle. Ford does skew those slots towards the dealers that sell the most of that car or truck.

To the dealers who sell few Mustangs, securing an allocation can be a bit of a chore. There can be waits while one is attained.

To the dealers that sell a lot of Mustangs (see Granger), while receiving an allocation is certainly easier, they still get only so many. Ford has to make some available to other dealers. With such popularity, delays can happen.

Previous Model Years, it was not uncommon for Granger to run out of allocations and wait for the next round. People were getting their cars, it just took a bit longer.

The priority offered is a locally-generated number. The default is 19. The number lets you know where you stand in relation to other Granger customers and their orders. Lower numbers are a higher priority.

Getting an initial of 19 is normal. I'm not familiar with Granger's ranking system and how they handle this. Maybe they adjust priorities over time. Maybe they have another way of managing the order flow.

Granger is a straight-shooter. On both topics, I'd start with the salesperson.

Edit,

Allocation and priority can affect the build date. A third topic, option selection, can to.

We have not seen a thread on options restrictions in a while. The painted black roof and Night Pony packages were two previous examples. Ford would receive 50 orders, but could only produce 37 of that item. Peoples' builds were moved to the next cycle, while Ford sourced more materials in support of that option.

While I'm not aware of any current restrictions, discuss the topic with the salesperson.

Ford and other manufacturers deal with these issues often. Ford wants to build and sell vehicles, but the path isn't always a linear one.

This specific example could be weather-related.

Because of the tires installed on HP cars (they can crack in below-40F/4C temps), Ford doesn't build those vehicles from about Nov-Mar. It's normal for someone to place an order in a Winter month, with the build not moving forward until April or later.

If they haven't already, the person should confirm their dealer has an allocation for the vehicle and that their order has been paired with it. That's often the biggest hurdle. If they've been matched, they could go into production as soon as the next line schedule.

Some dealers are better than others at giving updates. In my example, the salesperson would forward information generated during dealer-to-Regional Manager tag-ups. Other Members, other dealers, would receive nothing more than a shoulder shrug when asking about status.

I just got my 2026 GT Premium Convertible on Monday. It was ordered in late December. So, three months - but - it had a relatively straight forward options list, although it was a convertible: Molten Magenta Metallic Tri Coat, space gray interior, active valve exhaust, rim up-grade to 20", B&O 12 speakers with sub, mimi spare tire, 401A High Group options. As I said, my dealer is a super high volume Mustang and Ford dealer in general. Original priority was 19 then changed almost immediately to a 3 (high priority). So 3 months. As Skye and others have said often adding a lot of options can get your build set back a bit. Dealer gave me their order number. About a week later I got a VIN. As soon as I had both I googled Ford Track My Order and I could watch it move throught the process to actual completion and ship notification. I knew before the dealer did - probably I because I was checking in every day. Ha Ha. First step is to ensure your priority number is low. Good luck!

A dealer will quote long delivery times for 1) they want you to be thrilled when it arrives sooner and 2) hope you will be discouraged and buy something now off their lot.

No, I get that, 100%. Under promise and over deliver.. Always good practice..

Just strange from Granger, considering they sell A LOT of cars.
