I have had a catch can on my 2011GT since new and have kept any oil that was ever emptied from it. It has 25k miles. My 2024 will be getting one as soon as it comes from UPR.

Ever thought about sending that to a lab to get analyzed? I'm certainly curious.

In my own case adding a catch can made my fuel economy worse.
8.1L/100kms to 8.5L/100kms. It’s the only mod done so far.
To give you an example of a simple mpg would have to be apples to apples driving style as we see a lot of people install catch cans and drive the vehicles a bit harder or more free spirited. Either way the most important improvement is to be sure your combustion chamber is oil free and the octane is not being reduced from oil contamination in the fuel injector pulse.

Yes as I had said previously in an answer to this it’s probably other factors. We’ve had alot of rain and heat meaning more humidity. That appears to be the case as my fuel economy is now improving back to where it was now that the humidity has left.

Thank you

Is the driver side really needed? I’m not a zoom zoom person.
Neither is needed. I don't really drive the car unless it's to go to and from the track, and I only have passenger side catch can. The driver side is not worth it to me when what I'm giving up to buy it is ten 15 minutes sessions on the local track.
Every hour of track time over 5000 rpm average is about 2-3 tablespoonfuls of oil in the passenger side can.
Buy it if you truly don't care about the couple of hundreds it costs, or if you have an obsession with symmetry.

If you're not a zoom zoom person, don't buy catch cans for preserving your engine. Buy them because it pleases you to (and it's a perfectly legitimate reason)

I did in fact purchase and install the passenger side just to be safe. Haven’t had it long enough to see any oil in it yet but I’ll keep checking.

I'm wanting a dirty side PCV oil catch can. Is there any appreciable performance differences between the aftermarket billet ones? I've looked at Mishimoto, J&L and UPR. Any reason to go with one over another?
Thanks.
I went with the URP units for both sides on my Dark Horse. Quality is great made in the USA very easy to install can't go wrong with them. Put some internet ones on my 06 GT they work but the UPR ones in my opinion are the best.

Out of curiosity, because I don't track my GT, but I have been recommended to get a catch can from my father because better out than in mentality. The owners manual says it is not needed unless you track it, however, there is people on this thread saying better out than in as well.

But if that small amount of oil would be an issue going back in, over time wouldn't these GT's be having issues down the line because of it?

I have a new GT, with only a tad over 3,000 kms on it. I added a catch can as soon as I got it and haven’t bothered looking in it since, because I don’t track it either. The timing of your question is perfect as I just happened to check it last evening and be damned; there’s oil in it. I do stand on it occasionally and that’s the difference. I think it’s a good investment even so. If you too like to zoom occasionally that’s when you get the oil.

I know some in the US will take a dim view of using China products but I bought the Evil Energy can (no top vent). It’s cheap, and installed it on the OEM lines. It’s well made and works.

@Timry2 .... what you said and also I went to my Ford dealer to see if Ford Performance sold one and the parts manager, who I know personally, told me it would void the Ford warranty. In my case that's 5 YEARS or 100,000 Kms. If true, why would I jeopardize that?

Fords PDI states the Dark Horse has a catch can and Gurney Flap included and is to be installed by the customer at their discretion. It seems it should not void a warranty. I don't have a DH but maybe someone who does can verify if it is true. I know some GT PP cars were missing strakes so maybe the DH cars were missing catch cans.

Odd! I'm also in Ontario and have spoken with my Ford guys at great length on the mods that would, and would not, void warrenty on my Dark Horse.

I had the UPR cans on my Roush S550 and they were great but the passenger side was a little hard to get to. This one I'm going to try the J&L on the driver's side. Not becuase I need it but because I want the piece of mind. Ford said that isn't a problem.

J&L have a pretty good rep and I've already got the UPR sticker on my toolbox; hoping J&L will send me one with my kit lol What?!?!?! It's the adult version of Pokemon.

Just a quick update: We worked on refining the ease of installation and removal of all our S650 2024 Mustangs. We were sure to have the easiest quick-release knobs and fittings to ensure a convenient application. I can speak for our kits against cans with plastic fittings and single-stage oil diffusers and confidently say we have the best oil coalescing internal design, which is the most important thing with a catch can. (PRODUCT PERFORMANCE)

I hope this helps, and thank you for using UPR on your S550. Joe@UPR
