Who's used ceramics on a street car, and how are they?

I had Z23 pads on the front of my 19 performance pack. They are carbon-fiber ceramic infused… they worked great on the street and less dust.

Correct. OEM pads on the Mach 1 and Dark Horse, both regular and HP, are Ferodo 2500's. Lots of dust but are a terrific "beginner" pad on the track.

Edit: Ferodo DS2500
The back of the OEM pads have both the Ford part number and Ferodo's.
Aren't they AKEBONO?

On my 24 performance pack GT they were Akebono

Thank you to both of you for posting.

I have a 2024 Dark Horse with handling package.

My brakes are awesome, and I thought I would use the stock brake pads when the old ones needed to be changed.

How do I figure out which of the two that you both posted are correct for my application (24 DH with handling package)?

I changed the front and rear pads on the 24 DH with PowerStop Z23 or Z26. I've used them on all my Mustangs and have never been disappointed.

I've got the carbon ceramic Power Stop pads on my car and they're great. Much less dust than OEM pads. I also used Power Stop pads on my Z06's.

AS much as I prefer to change my own brake pads and rotors when needed, I'm hearing the swap out on the 24's is a real PITA. Quandary 😕

Has anybody done it yet?

Is this true that it is a PITA? If so, why?

Has anybody with a Dark Horse had the dealer do the brakes, either? If so, which pads did the dealer install?

They last so much! And I'm a spirited driver... so far 22k and they still halfway.
I've asked the price to the dealer and they doesn't appear to be overpriced like it was for the S550 (here in EU), so when I'll be time, I'll leave it to them (if the new OEM will last this long!).

The weather is looking favorable for Thursday Track day - will let everyone know how the brakes go, believe we are doing 20min sessions. DH has 17k on the clock - Tyres Fronts are about 2/3 worn, rears are about 1/2. Never really looked at pad wear, know they are due to dust on rims every wash.

The last time I went on the track it rained all day.

Time attack day at Queensland Raceway

Kind of related, I gave the car a quick post trip wash and just used Duraseal wheel cleaner and waterblaster instead of a full scrub.
I was amazed how well the wheels cleaned up. I've also noticed that they don't show the dust as bad as other cars I've had.

Thanks for the helpful update. In the pic above where you’ve got a blister/picked up some additional rubber on the tyre, does this last long or does it get worn down/away once back on the road fairly quickly?

Extra rubber, not blisters, took that pic when back in carpark, was surprised how sticky these got when heated up, how quick they fall off when they overheat....... between sessions I did not notice, no tell tale vibrations either, but you could hear slot of pickup hitting body work first hot lap so think that's where the rubbish was letting go when tyre heated up, there were 60 cars cycling through the sessions, so there was a bit of rubbish offline.

Temps today were 14 to 30 Celcius, went on track with all tyres at 32 psi, by end of first session lhf was 35, and I dropped too much pressure out and did not come on in 2nd session, but 3rd hit that magic number and was good all the way through......... I think the brake rotor temps has a lot to do with this, driving to track tyre pressure 32psi freeway driving

As for the brakes, at the end of each session they were smoking hot, even at a 30 degree ambient temp, best part was packed up, put some fuel in to get home, and battled freeway traffic all the way home, wouldn't even know it had been on the track all day.

But don't worry about those brakes, they are the bomb
