No threads behind tow hook cover to mount front license plate.

I ordered front tow hook license plate mount from ebay https://www.ebay.com/itm/3644980303...39&osub=-1~1&crd=20240304203141&segname=11051.

However, when I opened the tow hook cover to install there are no threads to mount the supplied rod. Anyone else have this same situation?

WTH Ford, why put a tow hook cover if it can't be used.

I took a look at some Mustangs my dealer had then at mine and it looks like only the Dark Horse comes with a spot to screw in a tow hook. it also looks simple enough to retrofit a DH bumper to be able to add that functionality. the part number for the DH which has threads for a tow hook is PR3Z-17757-A and costs $148.43 retail. I make no promise that it will work perfectly. to remove the bumper you have to remove the bumper cover, ambient air temp sensor, cruise control module, active grille shutters, and separate the wiring harness clipped to the back of the bumper

I haven't checked behind the "tab" on the bumper, but my car with the Performance Package came with the tow hook to screw in. So I figured that it must be set up to receive the factory supplied tow hook.

Maybe non performance package cars don't have the part for a tow hook to engage? Cheaper for Ford to produce the same bumper cover for everyone, even if it doesn't have the same under part.
