I lost it. Any suggestions on how to cover that area? Replacement seems too $$ much for a piece of plastic.
Currently I have gorilla tape. Any alternative ideas?
Stealing from others is not an option

found these two. can someone please explain the difference
They are different in shape. One is square. The other square, with a corner cut.

They fit different bumper assemblies. One is for the DH, the other GTs.

Given the part number, I'd poke around eBay from time-to-time.

How did you lose it?

I would hate to have to replace mine - it would have to be painted Blue Ember Metallic. Ugh, it would probably never match and drive me crazy.

I removed it to put the tow hook when in track...now I can't find it

I started looking for a replacement about a month ago. I'm using a front plate mount on my tow hook and was hoping to buy a spare so I could drill it and install it around the shaft of the hook. I have the original. Mine is the $94 one. I won't be buying it. I live in California. You have to have a front plate. Unfortunately, here if you don't have one, it's just a matter of time before you get nailed and one more thing that they're looking for to have an encounter with you. I didn't have a front license plate on my STI. I made it 7 years. Then I got an $80 ticket while parked in a paid parking lot. I fought the ticket and was like what the hell were you doing in here and they were like doesn't matter. You don't have a front license plate pal. There are plenty of Teslas in California that don't have a front plate, but they're getting picked off slowly too.

Guess I'll have to find one at pick n pull or on eBay. Either that or find somebody with a 3D printer who can make me a batch that I can practice on. They seem to be available for the s550 because the guys in the Mustang group I'm part of all have them. Appreciate the thread. At least I know it. I'm up against now.

Have you asked you state representative (and your state senator) to introduce legislation removing the front license plate requirement?

Draft a simple bill for them, too. It helps. Sometimes, if they are interested, that is the first question, "Do you have a draft bill for me to review?" Use the standard format in your state (for example, in my state, strike through is for removing language from the statute, and underline is for adding language to the statute).

I have overhauled many laws in my state this way. If you can gather others together to support your effort, your odds of success go way up, obviously higher the more folks you can organize.

Great advice re: legislation. My feeling is that license plate technology (I.e. red light cameras, toll cameras, neighborhood safety cameras) works better when there is a front plate, so they aren’t going anywhere. The tow hook plate holder sounds cool.

If you don't ask, then you already know what the answer is.

I asked and asked and asked again. Some of it was easy, and bills passed right away, Governor signed, and became law. Others were more difficult, took years and several failed attempts, and organizing 10,000+ citizens to be active in pushing. Yet other issues never succeeded (yet).

Everybody sits around wondering who will handle this. Well, if not you, then who?

That is what I finally asked myself a couple of decades ago. If not me, then who? So I just decided to go and do it and get others together and help guide the push and help with whatever I could. Frankly, the legislative push succeeded far beyond anything I could have imagined when I first asked myself that question.

There are enough California citizens who want to see this changed that you can get it done.
