One of the things that sold me on the Mustang was that it's a revvy beast with a smallish V8. I've grown up with higher revving NA 4's and a linear power curve to 7k plus feels normal.

Sorry I'm not familiar with the Soler device. I'm assuming your referring to the bluetooth throttle controller I saw when I googled it? I remember reading something about throttle controllers on my old 4-Runner being popular but I never ended up getting it. I cant believe Ford would make the same mistake with a Mustang GT...thats wild.

Edit: Just saw your earlier reply about the throttle controller.

By the way, as a previous owner of a 24 Mustang GT Performance package with 373 gear, and a current 25 Mustang GT owner with a 355 gear. I didn’t notice much of a discernible difference if you were to make that small of a gear change.

Don't fear the gear. Only going up one ratio is a waste.

Also, you're spending money to change the gears, that'll dwarf any fuel savings gain/loss you get.

Let's just say you somehow lost 2mpg. at $5/gallon you're basically looking at a measley $310 over 10,000 miles ($2531 vs $2941 total cost of gas)

exactly. I’ve ran 456 before. OP is not interested in going higher than 373 as stated.

Throttle controllers improve the pedal response and make the car feel faster, but they dont add any power or actually make the car faster. One could argue you just need to press the pedal harder to achieve the same result. So if all you're looking for is more a responsive pedal input then great, but it sounds to me like you want more than that.

To be clear, the current GT and the GT PP has a 3.55 for automatic, and 3.73 for manual. No upgrade for automatic.

A 6speed properly driven s650 on an E85 tune against a heat soaked COT suffering Hellcat on the highway is a drivers race. The hellcats untuned will get one run then will be fat ladies walking in sand after that. They are hobbled by the EPA cat over temp settings from hell. They go 9.0 rich at WOT and pull out all their spark. I dynoed several including two of mine. A 2022 charger HC and a 23 Challenger. First run on 93 fairly cool was 665ish to the tire. Second run 590 and third run back to back was 556 to the tire. Thats over 100hp lost from COT. Google that and you will see. Then of course you turn that shit off and same day, same fuel same dyno my 22 Charger HC made 738rwhp on that same dyno without knock or COT. They can be fast, but desperately need a tune. Thats why you cant see them get out of the 11s at the drag strip for the 2020+ cars when the EPA rolled all that shit out and dodge implemented it.

There was even a recall for the older cars where they replaced the factory cats and flashed the PCM with a more intensive COT strategy. Those that did the recall complain all over the place their cars felt slower after and it wasnt in their heads.

My 23 Challenger went 11.3@122 stone stock, then backed it up with a 10.6@127 with a tune only. Both on the same tire with the same 93 in the tank. I dont remember the DA.

They have their place for sure. You should drive a C8 corvette. They are so watered down on the pedal, the throttle controller is necessary to feel like you even have a sports car.

And in all honesty, in the tune most tuners me included change the pedal demand to make the car have more punch in the mid range when you are on and off the gas. Really changes the driving dynamic and makes it more enjoyable to rip around in.

So we're measuring cars by worst case times now? Guys go 5mph faster than that stock.

And a tune only 6-speed Mustang is not going to touch that. The hellcat beaters are 10r80 cars with bolt-ons

OP's car feels slow because he's sitting there with the pedal to the floor from 81mph to 120mph, shifts one time, then waits in that gear until 170mph. And the car is hitting each gear 1000rpm lower than a 10R80 would, so it's out of the power peak.

Interesting on the impact of the later tune....My 16HC runs 11.2 @ 125 consistently on true street tires -all seasons. 10.7s on my drag radials which I run on the street. Have run hot laps and no significant reductions until you heat soak it.

You wouldnt be ZH, would you?

No but I know Zdungho. And your 16 was one of the cars that has the cat recall out. The 2020 cars came from the factory with the updated PCM strategy for much higher cat over temp enrichment. So my advice if you haven’t done the recall, don’t. You’ll regret it.

And Z tuned one of my hellcats for me and a few of my local friends with hellcats. As I said once tuned they are very fast. But any 2020+ hellcat or pre 2020 with the recall done is a dud without a tune.

Here was my last one a 23 HC challenger. One month a part stone stock on 93 and the DRs and then tuned only on that same 93 in the tank on the same tire, same track. Then bonus run on tune only E85. Thats almost 10mph gained from stone stock to E85 tuned.

Stock

Tune only 93

E85 Tune only
