I tried pinning the bass and it was just boomy to the extreme. Then again I listen to classical music...

I take the tweeter down 3 steps from center, mids down 1 step, and add 2 steps to bass.

Don't knock it till you try it. It works very well for audio books. Just a good balanced sound, classical, rock, pop, rnb, whatever.
