@BimmerDriver ..... good information. Thank you for your thoughts. To clarify, I was not told I couldn't sell the car. I was told that the dealership would not accept the car as a trade if it had an open recall on it until the work had been completed as they could not "legally" sell it under those circumstances. A local Ford dealer had told me that first - so while in another city I went to a big Ford dealer that moves a lot of vehicles including mustangs and that is what they said.

Surely if you are trading in to a Ford dealer it isn't a problem, after all their workshop will be paid to do the recall before they sell it? here in the UK we are currently doing exactly that and the dealer had no problems, they will simply do the recalls before they sell it.

Now if you were trading to a non- Ford dealer it is a completely different situation.

Anyone have the Ford procedure to remove and re-install the windshield cowling referenced in the BCM recall bulletin?

Looks straight forward.

I traded my last Mustang with an open recall. It's not an issue.

@Gregs24 ..... what you say makes sense. I was told that Ford does not keep recalls open indefinitely and were I to trade-in my 2024 in say 2027 or 08 Ford might not pay for the recall and I would be stuck with the cost.....that also makes sense.

Sorry but I'm going to add to the discussion. I just called my insurance agent. He is a cool guy even if he drives a competitor's ride (Dodge Hellcat). He said - read the fine print on your policy. You are required to have recalls completed as soon as they are available to maintain coverage. I said I can see how a failure to comply with THIS specific recall might void future warranty claims with Ford due to rusting or corrosion but how could a failure to comply with an arguably "non safety" issue affect my insurance coverage. He replied that's where the lawyers get involved - do you really want to take that chance? As I said, he's one of the good guys and is just looking out for my best interests. I'm still leaning into NOT getting it done but based on what I have heard I might be gambling with my money?

Since the recall affects the lighting, I guess I can see the argument in case of an at-fault accident due to safety regulation but the insurance company and lawyers would have to prove the car was affected in court. By your agent's logic, you need to complete recalls immediately and Ford themselves didn't even have the recall solution ready for a few months.

Anything can be argued in court, the success of that argument will depend on the facts of the situation.

Your agent isn't wrong but he's not 100% right. it's depends on numerous factors like everything in life which involves risk.

@canzaecho .... agree but slight correction - the agent didn't say immediately but as soon as available. By this I interpreted his comment meant within a reasonable amount of time - like as soon as the dealer could schedule you in as opposed to a year later. Of course, I agree, much of what we do in life involves risk but it is his job as my insurance agent (for which I pay a $hitload of premiums) to make sure I don't step on a land mine, liability wise.

I am reluctant to take my Dark Horse in for the recall because of things just like this. The car is garage kept and has never seen any water. I had it ceramic coated when I got it and only use the spray cleaner that was recommended by the installer....I think I will take my chances...
Get an agreement from the dealer that will do the work. The recall is a 2-3 hour job so long as there is no water intrusion already into the BCM. If your car has never been driven in the rain, then it seems unlikely you’ll need any specialized work to be done. My dealership provides white glove service for Mustangs when requested. Good luck!

I am in the same position with my 24 GT and wife’s 24 GT. We are not taking them in. Stangs never see rain and when we first purchased them it was down pouring and no issues.
