It’s been a while since other drivers throw compliments to us on our car…..kinda’ nice, you know?

Think of it this way….it’s no different than if someone compliments you on your shirt. If someone says, ”hey nice shirt” they are complimenting your taste in shirts. You wouldn’t think you’re cornered because you didn’t sew the shirt yourself….lol.

@Cz_Ziemniak ...... speak for yourself please. I have rallied and raced cars and boats am happy to brag that I earned an offshore racing license "back in the day". I know how to drive. If I pull on someone at a light he better know how to manage his horsepower. That said, IMO a really strange comment from a Mustang owner (you). Tons of video on all manner of drivers losing control of their vehicles - so why make a negative comment about Mustang owners on a Mustang forum? Call us clowns? IMO the "haters" who constantly criticize Mustangs are just jealous or likely have a defined personality disorder that they are trying to work through.

I wasn't specifically talking about you, just making the point that mustangs have a reputation.

With that being said, you taking it so personally is rather amusing.

From your previous posts, it does sound like you’d rather have people tell you….”Wow, Ford really did a nice job building that!!”…..lol…..
Correct. And that's different than implying that I rather have people bashing on my car.

I get compliments on the color (vapor) quite often, but when I take my foxbody out it’s all the time, and it’s not just compliments, seems like everyone used to own one and they want to tell long stories etc…..

Strangers will be like “I had one JUST like that!”
EVERYONE has a mustang story, whether it's one that they owned or someone else. Having a mustang makes me feel like I've become part of that club or a family.

I've seen a lot of memes or jokes about the typical owners of "competitor" makes and models, and almost never about the mustang. About the blue oval, yes, but the mustang might as well be its own individual brand anyway at this point.

A friend of mine has worked at different car dealerships for several decades, and said that many stereotypes about drivers of other vehicles such as BMW's, Nissan's (but they all want Chargers), diesels, SUV's, Toyotas and Hondas, are totally true. No stereotypes about mustang drivers though.

Everyone knows someone cool who has owned a mustang.

I get compliments all the time on my garage queen. Just got a compliment from a C8 this past weekend at the gas station. A lot of people don't know it's a new Mustang and they don't know what a Dark Horse is. I have custom wheels so that has drawn even more comments. I just like cars, and I love that other people like cars. I always wave and give my thumbs up for other cars I like.

Going from an AWD, the way this thing wants to light up the rears is a bit embarrassing when I don't mean to do it. I'm supposed to be mature.
You'll get used to it and then forget about it, and it will remind you every time! My worst, so far, was at a light. When the light changed, I thought I was doing well, and then all hell broke loose, and I launched across that intersection like an idiot. Once it settled down, I thought that wasn't so bad, but I was lying to myself! I think I was just happy I wasn't in a ditch! Glenn

There are several stereotypes that are very well known.

Just off the bat, mustang drivers can't control their cars,
mustang drivers are boomers,
mustang drivers couldn't afford a corvette

I hear/heard these in passing all the time over the last decade or so.
